I use Sugru. Moldable plastic / rubber. I mold it around the ends, it hardens when cured and prevents bending of the small wires, especially at the ends

My 14 year old son has this talent.
He goes through cords at a rate 4x faster than anyone else in the family.
Change "14" to "15" and you are telling the story of my house. The kid could break an anvil.

Went through this as well. Told my wife to hold onto the phone when she puts it down to make sure she feels it vibrate. Then showed her the status light. She’s been good since then
Would work for mine, but she insists on a "pretty" case on her phone, with slots in the back for her license, credit card, etc. Yeah, if you wrap it in this ugly plastic and stack more plastic cards on top of it, the pad doesn't work. And she also broke the entire multipack I bought of the 90 degree cords. Not the cord itself on some of them, she managed to break off the connector in her phone. That was fun to get out.

Mine breaks hers once every 3 months or so. I stopped buying expensive ones and just get some $7 basic cords to replace whenever hers goes to shite. Meanwhile, I've been using the same cord for multiple years. No clue how hers always stop working

same here, I buy USB-C cables in bulk. I have had the same cable for 4 years now, but have purchased no less than 3 dozen (think there are 1 or 2 left).
Next order will be the one with the rare earth magnets in the ends and see if they last any longer.

This entire sequence would have made me consider divorce

They don't. At least the ones we tried, and it wasn't just my wife breaking them. I had one break off in my kids kindle when I was charging it, and the USB-C we thought would be great for charging the Macbook worked about half the time.

Why not make her use wireless charging other rhan the fact that iPhone users never seem to charge their phones

Seems like the charging port on the phone would be loose or get broken itself if that much wear and tear was put on it.
Could it be that the charger port is getting filled up with lint and she's having a hard time putting it all the way in and thus the wear and tear?
Maybe take a look at her phone and see if it easily snaps in. That's the one great thing about lightning cables is the sensation of it snapping into place.
Other than that, the poster that recommended right-angle plugs may be on to something.

No cords are wife proof.
Always grabs it to disconnect about a half foot away from the connection.
I've repeated many times to her that you have to disconnect at the base of the connector.
Will claim that's how she does it, but I see her doing it over and over
