Long story short, my parents switched to ATT after they were sold on direc tv and internet that would be identical speed to cox package for $90 a month when Cox was costing them $150.

I have run speed tests and have never gotten more than .13mbps. It is unusable. Call ATT and the guy tells me they are paying for the 765kbps plan. I LOL. My mom is pissed because they told her it would be identical to her cox coverage. Guy on the phone offers to upgrade their service to 5mbps for same price. He says to unplug for one hour so the modem can absorb the upgrade. I LOL again. Waited a bit and now they get 1.5mbps. Call again. New lady says the truth is that the pole that connects their neighborhood to ATT internet is only capable of 1.5mbps.

What is maddening is that they advertise 25mbps with direct tv packages for $50-$75 a month but are charging the folks $90 for basically the worst internet on the planet.

Im paying for 100 and consistently get 123 mbps over wifi. up and down. I love ATT. The install guy knew his shite and gave me his personal number if i ever needed anything. Hooked me up with smart band steering airties and let me borrow his paddle bit and extension when i hit a brace in the wall trying to run HDMI behind the sheetrock. He stayed until 8 pm in the cold of the snow day so that we had internet our first night in the house we moved into.

Cancel if you don't like it. You have 30 days...

It’s not mine...my parents. And did you read the part where they lied about the internet. Thy don’t even have the capability to hit the cox standards they said they were matching. Surely you are bright enough to say this is a very bad move on their part.

Your experience with one nice guy who is probably a contract worker does not change this.

The only time I've seen speeds that shite was a modem/router problem. Surely you are bright enough to not have it in the basement closet or didn't wait 30 days to start complaining.

Did you read the thread? Apparently comprehension is not your strong suit. They can get no better than 1.5 per ATT

I'm not ignoring anything in the thread. The thing i can't comprehend is how someone would continue service after the first 5 mins of getting 1.5 mbps. Or how you could let the tech leave with that bullshite.

Where do your parents live? Do other neighbors have ATT and get the same poor speeds? Why did they wait over a month to say anything? Do you know what speed they are actually paying for? If they aren't getting that speed, have you scheduled someone to come out and look at it?

Sounds like the only thing that's happened so far is uninformed customers talking to incompetent sales people.

You're blaming him when AT&T has already admitted they fricked up, and it seems to be because you had a crush on your AT&T installer?

Probably because they're old people who don't know how to run speed tests or didn't even know the internet wasn't getting full speed when the tech left? I mean, you really can't comprehend that?

Wanna know how I know you didn't read the thread?

Maybe it's me who can't read, but I don't see anywhere in this thread where he said that?

Then check your reading compression. His parents can cancel the service in the first 30 days at no cost. Problem solved and you two can't cry about the big boogie ATT man anymore. Dumbass.

Seeing how people screw up buying internet, I'd hate to see y'all buying a vehicle.

They switched over 6 months ago. They don’t understand that their speeds are terrible. Now you justify ATT charging more for their package with 1.5mbps than a package with 25mbps because older people just don’t know better?

My AT&T service is amazing. 10000000 times better than Cox.

I wouldn't switch to anything else.

No one said they couldn't cancel the service. He's still pissed off that he was lied to, and he has the right to be. AT&T wasted his and his family's time. Why wouldn't he be pissed off?

I can't tell if you're just trying to be an internet prick or if you really just have this terrible of "reading compression," as you call it.

ATT kicks Coxs arse Only of you have fiber ran. If you don't have fiber they should not be an option for you. If they run fiber to your house its cheaper and much better.

was there anything special you needed to do other than saying "I have my own modem"? I'm looking at switching to their gig speed from Comcast 100 mb.
