agree to disagree. the customization is lacking and the UI is very very very slow. and wifi strength is ok isnt the best

What settings are needed that are not provided in the BGW210? It has everything other than setting a WAN side VPN connection to encrypt your whole service.

Last I checked You can’t even set your own DNS in the AT&T gateways. Much less do more advanced LAN segmentation. Additionally using the ubiquiti gear I have, my WiFi roaming experience is as smooth as butter.

ETA and I had weird stability issues with the AT&T provided stuff. Really could never figure it out. That’s at three different houses and three different gateways in two different states, all with AT&T fiber.

It's not that you cant do it with the 210. It's that the 210 doesnt do it well. If the GUI is slow, it means the device as a whole is getting bogged down with other processes and is underpowered. Not to mention whatever restrictions that AT&T puts in there that they dont show you or let you change. Again, for most people, the 210 is just fine. For any power users, it's not and we need a better way.

For any with concerns, I was worried about moving from Cox (who I grew to despise) to AT&T and have 300Mbps fiber setup in pass through mode with an Orbi setup behind it since day one. We have had amazing speeds and results since we changed. Often greater than 300 up and down, and easily suits our needs.

I’ve been very pleased to make the change, plus we’re saving 100’s every month the way we reconfigured.

I was able to upgrade to the full Gig for less money thinking it would solve all my problems. . . Not so much. Running a speed test straight off the modem gave me the full bandwidth but at any point behind my firewall would max out at about 350M.
Mine got installed yesterday. According to ATT (something on my TV screen that I don't remember) I am just under 1,000. If I use any speed test on my phone I am getting just under 350 like you said.

How far ahead did you have to order it? I'm moving into an ATT fiber neighborhood in a few weeks, wondering how far out I have to order.

I called on a Monday, and got an appointment on that Wednesday. I could not believe they could do it that quick. Now, the line still isn't buried, and I have heard some bad stories on the follow up.

Oh, and I am really liking the service. Especially the part where you don't change inputs for apps. My main TV wasn't very smart, so this transformation is awesome. Casting from phone, yada yada yada.

Is that wired or wifi speedtest? I can get that with the Provided router wired.

What's your router and mesh/wifi setup? I've been reading that some equipment doesn't really work well with ATT.

I am wanting to I think go with either Ubiquiti or Orbi, but looking for advice with ATT Fiber.

That’s my setup. I use an ER-POE5 that powers three UniFi APs. It’s phenomenal, can not recommend strongly enough.

That’s probably their DSL service, which is garbage.

That's wired speed for me. I havent upgraded my wifi yet since most of my devices are wired. Just havent had the need to but my wifi speeds are very consistent now where as before, they were all over the place. Same for wired speed tests right off the modem. The speed tests within the gui showed constant speeds but running it off a laptop plugged in would not. Sometimes it would go as low as 200x100 with no other devices connected. Which is what brought me to my project.

With my ATT fiber, I've got an Ubiquiti USG with 4x AC-IW and one AC-LR (outdoor).

I just have what they installed. I don't know a router from a toaster.

I am a power user. I run a few servers out of my basement including my VPN server for personal family use and I work from home that has some unique requirements.

I haven't found anything the 210 can't do. I don't know if the GUI is slow compared to others as I haven't used anything else in 5+ years. It is no slower than any of my own personal routers I have used over the years.

I think people just like to bag on "standard" stuff just because it isn't cool enough.

Going through the same thing with my Google Wifi. I had ATT open my modem up to allow the google to "bridge", but I am still only getting 200 down....is that normal?

I don't know if I qualify as a "power user". However, with BGW-210 in IP Passthrough mode; I've seen no reason to bypass it.

I average 940 Mbps up and down, 2 ms ping etc.

The only reason I even log into the 210 is if I want to reboot it which I do every couple months. I've got it's wifi and packet filter/firewall disabled. So there's no reason for me to ever go there.

If I need to open up a port I do it on my USG as the USG WAN has the public IP.

ATT did something to allow my google wifi to use it's own firewall which was supposed to help with speed, not sure if it did. I also asked them to switch the wifi off on my BWG210 because I don't get enough coverage around the house, but I was getting faster speeds on the BWG when near it than I get on google wifi....

I need a consultant

Moving to Dayton OH and all ATT offers for my house is 50MB with a data cap for $49.99 and $10 month for modem. Spectrum has 100 MB with unlimited data for $49.99 and no charge for modem. Any reason to not go with Spectrum?

ETA: called to get my DirecTV switched and asked for specials with the loyalty department. He gave me $100 off a month for 3 months and said to call back when that ends to find out what else they can do. Not bad.
