Apple Watch Ultra

My review of this product in case of your where I was and curious if it was worth the money or give a shite to read, short answer is yes definitely and if you can pull off the big watch face on your wrist you should absolutely upgrade your current watch for 3 main reasons imo. If those reasons don’t matter to you then stay where you’re at. I am comparing this to the Apple Watch series 8 lte version also I bought when I made the ecosystem switch when the iPhone 14 came out, I was a hardcore Android user until this year and the seamless connection between the watch and phone are definitely my favorite things about this ecosystem. My Galaxy watch devices never worked this smoothly and I had all of them up to the 5.

1. Durability- in the two weeks I’ve had this watch I wear to work every day and I am in a labor intensive environment I’ve banged this thing several times and my old watch I’m sure would have been damaged and this thing still flawless. The sapphire crystal screen is damn near scratch proof you have to maliciously try and scratch it to get one. Case seems durable so far no marks after several bangs I’m sure my series 8 body would have been scratched. I hate putting protective stuff on my watch because it adds to the bulk so durability was important to me.

2. Call quality- I’ve made tons of phone calls and people did not know I was on watch, granted I wasn’t in noisy environments but in a pinch I’m sure you could get the job done with this watch. The extra mics over the other Apple Watches make a huge difference in call quality.

3. Battery life- staying near my phone most of the time I’ve went 13 hours off charge and battery was still 67% with normal use of the watch through the work day. I haven’t tried using it solo for a day yet but I imagine the battery life wouldn’t be much different.

Pretty much my experience too. The thing is built like a tank. Next month--I get to try out the diving app. Can't wait.

Same experience here. I used it for diving before the app came out. Pretty bummed it didn't record any of my data anywhere to upload to the app. Oh well. I'll try it out on the next dive.

re: Apple Watch Ultra
I agree with all of that.

I wear it more because it's more durable and the longer battery life. Whereas I'd occasionally forget the other one for a day or two then have to get it on the charger, etc.

Now, after a couple months I'm not in love with the aesthetics. They're not bad, they just have sort of a chunky, first-gen look. I knew that going in, but I haven't really warmed up to them. I came from the stainless Apple Watch so that's a lot of it. The titanium and orange has a cheaper look more like the aluminum silver variant.

But the good thing about Apple products is that they become commonplace in professional environments almost immediately, such that having a chunky, arguably ugly watch doesn't look out of place, nor does having bright white things sticking out of your ears, etc.

Been using the ocean bands white and midnight, imo they look the part but the Nomad sport bands look really nice and am waiting for a darker navy blue color not a fan of the current blue option if not I’ll probably get the black one. I also bought a cheap titanium band off Amazon in the event I wanna wear the watch under some dress clothes which isn’t that often for me so probably will hardly get used, but it does look nice against the titanium case of the watch.

Yeah definitely not a design we are used to with Apple but I like it, kinda looks more like a man’s watch to me.

I paired mine with a metal band I got offline that matches perfectly and you would think it was a very nice dress watch from afar. The band matches perfectly.

Stainless Band

Wear the black ocean band and ordered the yellow one for scuba diving. The other three shown in the picture I got from Aliexpress for $13.00. They don’t glide on like the apple bands, but for the price I don’t mind the inconvenience.

Same experience here. I’ve never been a fan of big chunky watches, but this one doesn’t look out of place on my wrist. I like the ruggedness of it and actually really like the orange accents paired with the green alpine loop. I also picked up a cheap stainless band from Amazon that looks really good when wanting to dress it up.
