data? If so, what plan did you wind up getting and was it worth it?
Want to add 5G, don’t want to lose my grandfathered unlimited data though. Am i being paranoid??

Yes, I don’t even come close to my data limit

Yeah, I did this about a year ago upgrading an unlimited family plan that was probably around 15 years old. I was the same way not wanting to lose my coveted granfathered unlimited data, but I also wanted tethering so I decided to price it out. Turns out, for our family plan at least, it was probably around $75/mo cheaper to switch to a new plan with unlimited data and for whatever reason, we got HBO Max for free as well.
ETA: Not sure if my plan has 5G, not really worried about it either until "5G" is actually 5G.

The only way i could see it being worth keeping the old plan is if you live in a rural area with no available internet services and you mostly depend on your phone.

5g is garbage right now. It can't penetrate a leaf or rain drop. Do not change for the sake of 5g.
I changed when I added phones two years ago. It was around the same price and hbo and watch att were free.

My exact experience. I added a line and a phone and was still paying less than before.

I’ve been holding on to this plan, because at first everyone I knew that gave theirs up, said don’t ever give it up. I hardly ever close out pages I visited, so that makes me real nervous to switch.

Coincidentally, noticed today at the corner of Kenilworth and Perkins I had "5Ge", first time I noticed it. So I guess my plan does have 5G, but 99.9% of the time it says 4Glte. Also coincidentally, I notice this 5Ge because my android head unit was having problems with Spotify and not connecting to my phone's hotspot. As soon as it switched back to 4Glte the problem went away. I also did a speed test on 4G and was pulling 60+ Mbps down, which is plenty for anything you'd be doing on your phone or tethered device. Like someone else mentioned, 5G currently will get fricked up by a leaf blowing in the wind. So, to the OP I wouldn't make a change just for 5Ge, it not there yet and you'll likely still be getting 4G most of the time. I would however price it out with ATT to see if you can save money and have the same unlimited data like I did.

Still on the original unlimited and haven't really needed/looked to change. I just dread even thinking about their customer service which is full of dipshits and will take FOREVER!!

5Ge is not true 5g. That's stands for 5G Evolution. It a marketing misleading term. 5Ge is actually 4G but the equipment is being upgraded to handle eventual 5G. What you are getting is speeds equivalent to what Verizon and T-Mobile is already putting out with 4G.
One day we may have legit awesome life changing 5G that is faster than a hard wire. Unfortunately, we don't have that yet.

I had one of the original data plans with them. I don't have it anymore, but I don't need it. 90% of the time I am on wifi as are most people.
