It used to be 2-4 hours after you drop it off. Now it’s saying my two items are going to take to November 19 and I dropped them off a week ago. Wtf, Amazon.

I think it just depends on the item. I returned a fryer that didn't work and waited almost 30 days before I got my credit. I brought a thermometer this morning and already have my money back.

Probably depends if it was fulfilled by Amazon or a different seller. It's hard to tell when purchasing sometimes if you're in a hurry.

This ^^^

I seriously doubt Amazon is playing games with refunds. That’s a tangled mess that I am sure the corporate heads wish to avoid opening up the books and publishing the product flow charts for in any legal setting, especially class action.

VERY easy to pass on an item that is not shipped/sold by Amazon for this reason

Something does seem up. My recent return is saying the same thing, a month and it was shipped by Amazon not a marketplace seller. I only do a few returns a year out of probably hundreds of orders but they have always been credited within a few hours as you stated, I've never had one take longer.

I'm not worried about getting my money and I could see a delay for an account that pushed the boundaries or abused the return policy, but my account is clearly doing neither. Hopefully this doesn't become the norm.

Shipped by Amazon or shipped and sold by Amazon? I returned a few things yesterday and had my refund for all in a couple hours.

Yes, sold and shipped by Amazon. Maybe it is because it is an electronic item, but I have returned electronics before and received a quick refund. Maybe it is because of the price at about $400 but I have returned more expensive items and received quick refunds.

Like I said, I'm not worried about getting my money and I'm glad to hear it is not widespread and just an anomaly or a limited thing. Maybe we can get a clearer picture of what triggers it with the holidays coming up.

I've had some major issues with Amazon returns lately, all of which were shipped and sold by them.

One item lost in transit during return, another item received by them but not processed, etc.

Some other items have taken a long time to get the refund credited.

They seem to be cracking down on returns. I've noticed this when returning a couple items within a short timeframe. Their customer service has gone quite a ways downhill.

That's a separate issue. I believe return fraud or abuse is a major problem for most retailers.

I'm having trouble with delivery not returns. Even though my instructions CLEARLY state office hours they will not stop trying to deliver after hours and on weekends. This problem started about 3 months ago and calls to Amazon haven't yielded any results. They must have shifted a policy and told trucks to attempt the delivery and pay no heed to instructions.

Half the time I get a message when I order something that this address is flagged as a difficult delivery spot. Really? I have listed the business hours and stated in multiple locations that it is a business.
