My neighbor just put up a security cam that only aims in my yard. It literally will not hit one single piece of her property.

So last night, I aimed a real floodlight at the camera, but it lit up her entire house. Not trying to do that. I just don't want anyone spying on me 24/7.

Can I just aim an IR floodlight at the thing to wash out the camera? I know it won't help during the day, but if I can get it turned away, that would be great. It is an Arlo.

Put a wind chime or something that moves in view. She will tire of changing batteries.

My getting arrested days are hopefully over for good

I just let my Arlo batteries die, and never replaced them. Thing was a major PITA. Expensive CR123s, and wouldn't catch anything I wanted it to (mine was aimed at my driveway).

Hers just caught my dog taking a dump

I don't care if she has it. I just don't want the damn thing pointed directly at me all of the time

ah

eta lots of ebay sellers (particularly from china) with cheap CR123s...

20 pack LiON CR123s $15
you couldn't find a rechargeable version of those batteries? you could just always keep a hot-swap set ready to go.

I could have written that exact post. Looking to do something similar. Wondering what a laser pointer aimed at the camera lens would do.

I looked into that, but any deviation of the laser would allow the camera to work again. An IR flood has a huge amount of throw and coverage. Amazon has one called CMVision-IR200 that I'm looking at.

Just spoke to code enforcement about the camera installation and floodlights she has aimed directly at my house. They were installed without permits. Parish is sending someone out to give her a chance to remove the lights, but the camera looking at my property is legal

Most likely won't bother it that much and you will never know without looking at her footage. Plus during the day it won't matter.

I would definitely know. She was out there last night hooting and hollering, and kept trying to adjust the camera so it would work. The big shop LED light shut down the camera footage.

I think not being able to view it just at night would drive her crazy enough to move it. IMHO, it would be good to not have visible light lighting up her entire house

Throw up a pole or banner or something on your property to block the camera

You need permits for floodlights?

She'd call the code enforcement.

I recently got my bathrooms renovated. She called the parish because I had four trash bags full of stuff sitting on the side of my house for 1.5 days. I was keeping it to show the insurance company, who came out the second day.

I dug a hole and installed a French drain to catch basin in the middle of my yard, but the top was about 24" under the soil. I did it because my sidewalk had a low spot that would collect water when it would rain, grew fungus, and was extremely slippery. She called the parish.

I moved my fence forward 5ft when I moved in. It is still 20ft from the road on a street where most are 2-3ft off of the sidewalk. The old fence was also rotten as hell. She called the parish. That ended up costing me about $2500 in fines, court costs, and survey fees. $2500 in fines, and $300 in materials.

Parish told me to rip the fence down because I didn't have a permit. They said don't touch the trash until they saw I took it down. I tore it down one afternoon, and she had someone out there the next morning because of the wood.

She has called twice on me working on my truck in my driveway. It is my daily driver. She told them I was running an illegal repair shop.

She does the same to everyone around. Completely miserable person, but that doesn't mean I need to roll over and let her invade my privacy or ruin my quality of life.

Keep in mind, I did nothing but move in

You need a permit to swap a toilet or even change a damn outlet in Jefferson Parish. Leaky sink? Need a licensed plumber to pull permits and fix it

Here. Read this on invisible paint that will ONLY show up to a camera capable of IR.

LINK

Imagine the possible things you can write that aren't visible but show up on her IR recordings.
