Of more than 2,600 participants in the Hyperloop One Global Challenge, 11 teams presented routes, linking 35 cities and covering more than 2,800 miles. They join 24 other teams from around the globe, each vying to be among 12 finalists. Three eventual winners will work closely with Hyperloop One engineering and business development teams to explore project development and financing.

...With Hyperloop One, passengers and cargo are loaded into a pod and accelerate gradually via electric propulsion through a low-pressure tube. The pod quickly lifts above the track using magnetic levitation and glides at airline speeds for long distances due to ultra-low aerodynamic drag.

...Proposed routes that would greatly reduce passenger and cargo transport times across some of the country’s most heavily trafficked regions including Los Angeles-San Diego, Miami-Orlando and Seattle-Portland. The longest distance proposal, Cheyenne-Houston, would run 1,152 miles across four states, reducing to 1 hour and 45 minutes a journey that currently takes 17 hours by car or truck.

How did BR/NOLA not make the list? I'm sure Louisiana would have been happy to pay for a feasibility study.

I'm curious what the ticket prices will be for those things.

Will it be cheaper than air/car travel?

Are these going to run parallel to existing interstates? Gonna be a whole lot of NIMBY's up in arms.

I would love to see one out of Atlanta to either Cincinnati or D.C.

Something like ATL -> NO -> Houston with a stop in BR would have been legit.

Florida was set to start high speed train building between Tampa-Orlando-Miami until Gov Scott nixed the Federal Grant.

I would love a Tampa-Orlando high speed transit option.
I-4 is literally hell.

Texas Triangle is very legit.
Also, a LA to Vegas route would be awesome. Especially with the Raiders moving there, still a lot of Raider die hards in LA.
I also agree that a Hou to BR to ATL would be a great route. Lots of business opportunities there.

The Cheyenne-Houston route baffles me a bit.

Yes it does.

No DC Metro to New York? That would seem to be a no-brainer.

Nah, the SEC would force a Birmingham & Tuscaloosa stop that would frick up everything.

I would assume it may have more to do with businesses and moving cargo.

This would make it where someone living in Dallas could go out for dinner and drinks in Austin and then go home that night. It would be like a 30 minute ride.

They had issues getting right of ways for the Amtrak Acela program. I imagine the cost was too high

What about a transatlantic route?

With the speed advantages, I'd think this would be a game changer for global travel rather than local

I would be a lot more excited about Houston to Denver, but Cheyenne is only about 2 hour drive to some good slopes.

Vegas to LA would be cool, but la to sd is much more necessary

Musk is well on his way to having another company subsidized by the government.

I'd love Pittsburgh - Cbus - Chicago. Terrain gets pretty hilly around Pittsburgh though, seems like it would drive costs up.
