Pefok scores in stoppage time to give his team the 4-3 win. Gives him 2 goals and 1 assist on the day.

Pepi's 7th goal of the season. Ferreira took the corner. Not sure if it will count as an assist or not.

He's only 28. If he can get his career back on track, he can easily get back into the national team picture.

I think “easily” is a huge stretch. I think it would take a pretty remarkable career turnaround for him to get back in the picture. And MLS isn’t the greatest setting for him to do this. I think it would take 1-2 years of sustained high level performance to even get the conversation started (by then he’ll be around 30), and even then many of the younger options would need to stall out in their development.

Maybe as instructive examples, if guys like Julian Green and Aron Johannsson can’t get into Greg’s plans, what’s the likelihood that Wood could, even assuming he finds better form in MLS?

Only if you ignore the 1st part of the sentence. I think this was just his 2nd start since coming back. IF he can start regularly scoring, he can get another look. He's scored 5 goals in 14 WCQ games. He's been in those situations. If you bring in 3 STs for each WCQ, he can definitely get into that conversation. He does have to prove it first, but the striker position is completely up for grabs right now.

Can we agree that MLS is a little better than the Ekstraklasa and Allsvenskan?

And Green is definitely on Berhalter's radar. Playing well in the Bundesliga will only get him more looks.

I’ll just agree to disagree. I think the chance Wood works himself back into the conversation ever, much less by WCQ, is so remote that it’s not worth discussing or arguing. But I hope I’m wrong there, he is a good dude and a useful player when at his peak. And if this ever happens, will be a helluva story.

Good article on Zimmerman, Zardes, and Roldan trying to get their USSF B coaching license.
