Ball bouncing on turf, not great. Poor kid.
It’s ok though I’m sure this won’t haunt him for the rest of his life.

That’s brutal you have to feel terrible for him. I checked the LHSAA site today and they have the score as 2-2 so I assumed HC won in a shootout.

We need blue barracuda here to sympathize. I think he made espn top 10 plays from the state final game.

Bro you gotta chill with that

Why are they playing on a shite turf field?
Posted on 2/25/24 at 12:55 pm to LSUMJ
That was pretty brutal but a good lesson for youth players. When playing the ball back to the keeper, ideally the keeper steps to either side of the goal so the pass wouldn’t be on frame if it’s a bad pass or if the goalie messes up the kick.

At first I thought it was his non dominant foot but then he punted it out with same foot.

Georgia plays their finals on turf as well in 2 locations. Kinda hard to have an unplayable turf field after it rains.

No, the final was 2-1, that was the wining goal with less than 4 to play

Played highschool, college and for the military.....playing on turf always screwed up the play of the ball. I whiffed many times on "turf" kicks. Sucks for this kid that it was for state championship. That's futbol!

I assume that’s a joke, because man it’s brutal. I grew up abroad. Played in some fairly competitive international set ups.
Hadn’t missed a penalty all year. Was the fifth shooter in the semifinal of a tournament at 15 years old.
I boofed the ball over the bar like Roberto baggio in the World Cup. The other team made their final shot and that was it.
I’m still thinking about that fricking shot. And that’s some 30 years ago.
If I had made that I’d probably be a Senator or at least a respected man!

That's terrible for the keeper. Poor kid is going to replaying that moment in his head for the rest of his life.
As for the field...it is a damn shame that kids have to play on a field lined for football in the State Championship. I played in two state championships at Tad Gormley, which was turf, but it was VERY nice and lined for soccer. It was a great experience both times.
