WC ‘94 was a cultural revolution.
WC ‘26 is a corporate debacle.

And this tournament already has a lot going against it. 3 hosts, unlimited teams, US only plays in north Mexico. 94 was about sharing the worlds game, 26 is all about monetizing it, artificially inflating its value, and turning larger profit margins. No thanks. FIFA is not good for the sport.

This is pretty damn easy. Scalpers have gobbled up most of the tickets and aren't booking rooms. Nobody is buying those expensive tickets and therefore not booking cross country travel without tickets

Yup, and by the time scalpers accept they're going to have to take a loss, it will be too late for many people to go.

I bought tickets on Seatgeek for this game, before Sweden won. Tickets just hit the WC app yesterday. Honestly if it weren't for the Seatgeek email detailing where to find my tickets on the fifa website I never would have. Fifas email telling me where to find them was less than vague.

Seems like they overbooked and didn't realize people in these cities have their own homes and people also vrbo or Airbnb.

Yep. We got a decently priced AirBNB in the outskirts of Atlanta near a MARTA stop for the match we are going to. We got tickets for Spain v Cabo Verde for $500 a piece. About as cheap as I could find for any match

The whole experience has been a positively revolting display of greed & arrogance imo. It's good to see that people are rebelling

What's even crazier is that the world had knowledge of Qatar using slaves while building new stadiums, had the WC in December, and banned booze, and we are more up in arms about this than that.

Older I/we get, and the more technology being deployed, it becomes more and more apparent that all organizations are corrupted, from gov't to banking to religion to sports organizations.
