Hmmm, the only two egregious disallowed goals I can think of are the Germany non-handball in the 2002 quarters and the phantom US foul negating Mo Edu's would-be winner in the 2010 group vs Slovenia.

Dempsey had a goal against Algeria called offside. It was not.

Ghana look really bad on the right flank. Those guys are really their best option?

Ah, easy to forget that one considering how that match ended. I guess in a weird way, it's a good thing Edu's goal was wiped away too.

I feel like the group games will get a lot more interesting starting tomorrow when we get to the second games.

With 75% of the 3rd place teams advancing to knockout, there's very little drama in the first games. I feel like things will get a lot more interesting once the picture in the groups becomes clearer.

I wonder if we'll see a lot of rotated lineups from teams that secured 3 points in their first game.

Speaking from a USA perspective, I hope not.

In our case specifically, a win against Australia not only secures a spot in the knockouts but puts us in a commanding spot to win the group.

I doubt we would. MAYBE sit Adams because of the yellow and move Tillman back to his spot and throw Reyna in there, but that's a massive stretch.

I'm still angry about this.

If we sit Adams, we have to have a like-for-like sub at the 6 considering Australia is going to sit back all match and wait to break on the counter.

The only other 6 we have on the roster is Roldan, who played very well in out last friendly against Australia, but idk how much I trust him. Richards has experience playing the 6 with Palace, but again that likely means Miles gets on the field because Poch rates him for some reason.

It's the first objectively bad match of the tournament.

You're right. For some reason I thought Tillman had been playing more of a DLP role for club but that isn't the case. What I said wouldn't make sense, or rather would be a massive misuse of Tillman's skillset.

I'm gonna be so pissed if Ghana somehow manages to win this. They don't deserve it at all.

Agreed. I know we looked gangbusters in game 1, but we need to be full strength. Go up early and then rotate.

JP on the call just takes me back to a better time.
