Yeah, because VAR certainly bailed out the Germans…..

Germans were playing dirty and against the rules. It was so blatant and the fact the ref or linesman didn’t call it from the beginning was absurd.

You cannot in any way obstruct the goalie unless you are trying to make a play on the ball. It was a guy boxing out and then shoving the goalie down. You can’t allow that.

Bad news for Belgium: The Greatest Country in the World, Donald J. Trump’s United States of America awaits.

If you have to go to VAR to decide a borderline penalty like this, and you think that is in line with the spirit of the laws, then you are the issue

This is like arguing a DB who inadvertently bumps into a WR shouldn’t be called for illegal contact/PI. Intent is irrelevant

Except a DB making a play to the ball has the same right as the WR and contact would not be a penalty, so your argument is hogwash.

Oh so only when you don’t agree with a decision is it “bailing out” a European team. And btw, if VAR wanted to bail out the Germans, they could have easily awarded them a penalty when Woltemade was bearhugged on his attempted header late in extra time.

Belgium likes to leave it late
Never forget the Chadli goal
So rough for Senegal dominating that entire game and losing the lead in 5 minutes
Belgium looked done

They are not even close to the same thing. Germany broke a clear rule they were told would be enforced.

Senegal gets called for a foul that likely doesn’t even get called in the open field. Bot difference. Senegalese player made a play on the ball first and Belgian player jumped in front of him. That is not a foul.

Otherwise, players can just dive in front of the player going for the ball once they start their swing and draw a foul every time.

What a comeback by Belgium!!

Down 2-0 in the 85th minute, Belgium scores twice in the closing moments to force extra time

Then win it with a penalty kick in the 5th minute of stoppage time in the 2nd half of extra time, 3-2, to send a stunned Senegal back home

Belgium now awaits the winner of tonight's USA vs. Bosnia & Herzegovina match in the Round of 16 on July 6

If the DB is going through the receiver to get to the ball it is absolutely a penalty

This isn’t controversial. Learn both games

I’m not comparing the two, I’m pointing out an instance where VAR could have easily “bailed out” the Germans if they wanted to. there’s no massive conspiracy to help European teams.

An epic choke job by Senegal. Maybe not as bad as 28-3, but still choked.

The Belgian got the first touch. That’s really all that matters.

The US has to get past 2 countries at once before they can think about the Fighting Waffles.

A lot is on the line tonight. Despite all the feel good leading up to this, this world cup will be a colossal failure if the US loses here.

I will be MASSIVELY disappointed in the current state and near future of US soccer if we lose. If we can’t use talent to beat them we should be playing with more heart.
