A reminder that there are no matches tomorrow (Wednesday)
The quarterfinal round starts Thursday with 1 match both Thursday & Friday while the last 2 matches are both on Saturday

I think fletcher had said 6 went into ET and that was the third penalty shoot out. Don't even know if that's right. But not sure what else you do. You can't keep playing for hours.
They had golden goal but the fans hated that too. It ended up doing the opposite of what they intended. Teams didn't want to lose in the opening minutes of extra time so instead of going balls to the wall to score first, they played even more conservative.

Golden goal happened within Extra Time, arguably made teams more afraid to attack as one counter attack and your out - much like the old NFL OT rules.

A couple tweaks they could make, if it’s no longer tied after the first extra time it’s over, no “second half”. The second half of extra time is golden goal.

Penalties
(winner wins the match IF it is still tied after ET)
then Extra Time as it is now.. but one team has to score or they lose

Penalties before extra time to decide the winner if it is still tied after extra time
Basically the winner of the penalties starts up 1 goal when extra time starts..
