Ludacris is right.

This is why the game is so crazy. The number of emotions both fans and players felt in this game is a rollercoaster.

Messi is just a different level. He did drag this team back. We and a lot of countries just don't have that type of player.

I hope there are more games like this left in the tournament
The further you get into the knockouts the less craziness you see and more 0-0 and 1-0 scorelines with cautious play

So of the final 8...

5 or 6 will come from UEFA
1 from AFCON
1 or 2 from CONMEBOL

Argentina/Messi..I mean Chiefs and Mahomes move on!

Messi is the goat no doubt about it, but that 12th man is a beast.

The ref and the VAR team clearly intentionally ignored two fouls. Argentina got a goal for Egypt waived off on an even weaker review but they didn’t stop to review that.

You know they are corrupt at that point. Ref then loses his mind as expected to cover himself.

I knew Argentina would score once down 2-0, but what happened after 2-2 was completely absurd.

Anyone claiming VAR should be looked at for tricky tack after Egypt had their second goal overturned just by that needs to STFU.

This game showed everything wrong with FIFA especially under Infantino. He took a corrupt organization and found a way to triple or quadruple the corruption.

Pathetic.

It takes a different level of confidence and experience not to panic in that situation and put up one goal, much less three in that short amount of time.

Not when you know the officials have got your back. Guy is different, but he has had help from the officials the entire tournament and actually absurd help.

Imo its bullshite. VAR should not be used to go find every little possible infraction to disallow a goal.

That’s a foul. Is it your first time watching?

The foul was suspect, but within the rules. Should have been called earlier. Egypt got their goal in the next few possessions. Not sure what other call you're complaining about.

Egypt flat out collapsed. They have no one to blame but themselves.

VAR has ALWAYS been used like this. Why is everyone acting like it’s new? We encourage refs to allow the play to continue so they don’t stop a goal in progress, and then review after.

Would you rather lose like we did last night or like Egypt did today and Senegal did before?

So that constituted a clear and obvious error - gotcha.

And so were the two in Egypt in one play and both in the box before Argentina scored the goal.

The point is not that the Egypt goal was overturned. It is that the same rule was not applied to Egypt’s benefit on similar circumstances and was not even reviewed.

Again, we know that Messi and Argentin are protected. He should have 3 goals in this tournament and suspended for their second game, but not only was the foul not given the red it should have automatically gotten, he didn’t even get a card.

Similarly, in several other games they got bogus calls/no calls that were clearly ignore corruptly.
