America hasn’t been the best side in Mexico for a while

LAFC got dispatched by Monterrey after they went around the country and Leon took them out pretty easily in the CCL final.

LAFC is the best run organization in the league and will be MLS’s most consistent team year in year out.

You took that literally.

My point is that the difference between the MLS's best and Liga MX's best isn't that great and is getting eroded each year.

So here’s the thing though

If MLS is only behind the big 5 leagues in Europe, and Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia, that’s still a top 10 league in the world… granted at #10

Although to be fair, they did play all of the matches in the US.

this is the whole reason for mexico teams not going further

MLS clubs piss down their legs when they go into mexico and play in front of those fans.

MLS is definitely behind more than the top 5 of Europe right now.

I think being the 7th or 8th best league compared to all of Europe is certainly feasible in the next decade though.

After FC Kaiserslautern was relegated to the 3. Liga for the first time in the club’s history, 41,324 supporters packed out the Fritz-Walter-Stadion on the famous Betzenberg hill for their first home game against 1860 Munich. To put that into perspective, only 7 Premier League stadiums have a greater capacity.

They have barb wire inside of their stadiums to separate the fans.

What does the soccer board make of MLS selling out a regular season match at the Rose Bowl?

Big one off attendance isn’t new to the league

Two franchises in one of the biggest markets should sell out a big venue

That and LA actually cares about the sport

And yes maybe travel hurt the Liga MX teams but welcome to MLS where teams travel different time zones regularly.

That’s another thing, the travel is crazy on the players. Even guys coming from Europe say that about the mls.

I think about the English teams and there are guys or groups that go to every away game.

You can’t do that here. I mean you could if you won the lottery and didn’t work and shite. But the travel costs plus time wouldn’t be worth following your team.

It’s way more doable in college where it can be regional like the sec was set up for years. There were years I’d go to all the away games. But that might be like 4-5 games.

Yea but no one in MLS is doing 5 straight road matches across country without any time at home like Monterrey had too.

So the whole “welcome to MLS” he’s trying to pull is stupid

championship is irrelevant to the discussion since it's not a top flight

what's the main competition? Portugal, Belgium, and Netherlands? Russia?

the big teams are certainly better than anything we have, but in these leagues is where the crap at the bottom you've never heard of starts to become crap

Can you rank the Europe leagues for us?

Side note: Does anyone have a better league for football, baseball, hockey and basketball than the US?

Of course not and that’s why the franchise system works for those sports here. The best players are either produced here or come here from abroad and the tv contracts are insane.

Even though in recent years there seems to be people wanting pro/rel in American sports because the same teams are always terrible but milking that gravy train

Our popular sports require someone to be full-grown to play at the highest level due to their physicality.

The NFL doesn’t need pro/rel but MLB, NHL and NBA could use it.

Daryl Dike singlehandedly bringing Barnsley to the promotion playoff doesn't help this argument at all.

He was overweight and and we’ll pass his prime averaged basically a goal every two matches in MLS

Then struggled at Derby
