I watch every game. That would be one I wouldnt watch. A majority of American sports fans are likely a little bit homophobic to the point that they dont want to see this, and it definitely wouldn’t help grow the game in a country were a lot still see it as a soft sport

We aren’t converting anyone to being a soccer fan in a friendly against Costa Rica. If the person is tuning in chances are this ain’t scaring them away.

I think US soccer is probably more sensitive to this than other sports because of the high visibility of the women's team, which has always had gay players prominently featured.

Now, if I were in charge would I do this? No. But as a fan it doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I get way too upset when Nike puts us in generic trash jerseys or that garbage black one with police light shoulders

How is this any different that when teams wear a patch because someone died, or when all of MLB wears 42 on Jackie Robinson Day?

Everyone just wants to angry about something.

Your not converting anyone for this game, but when it gets blasted across all off TV and social media you are going to turn people off of it forever

This is my issue. It doesn’t help grow the game - it’s just agenda driven pandering.

0% chance I'm playing in that.

Come on Broski, you don't see the different in honoring a groundbreaking legend or a recently deceased legend vs. honoring Phil and Chaz in Midtown Atlanta who like to peg each other?

Dude this is ignorant as frick. Why respond like this? It’s just inflammatory.

The thing with pride month is the same as Black History Month. If you’ve been following this week, Mark McKenzie was the recipient of racial verbal abuse on social media. People are still being spineless internet “big men” and saying ridiculous shite about folks they don’t know.

Just like black folks are people too, so are those who are LGBTQ+. Those people still get spoken to in an abusive manner about things that they can’t really control. Are some of them flamboyant and maybe a bit purposeful in their personality? Maybe, but that’s a different argument than the one at hand.

I have zero problem with supporting people in general. You’ll always have the small groups that frick it up for everyone (see the dumbasses making discriminatory comments behind keyboards), but I want to say this VERY clearly:

frick ANYONE WHO IS NOT FOR SUPPORTING THE POOR AND DOWNTRODDEN.

Regardless of why, regardless of who. Stand alongside or get left behind. Be an actual man and an actual American. Stand for what is right, and don’t assume the worst in everyone.

Is this a serious question? One is celebrating overcoming major obstacles the career achievements of a baseball great who played in the MLB and one is celebrating a sexual orientation. Not even remotely close to the same thing.

A sexual orientation that several states didn't allow to marry until 2015 (and many of those states still fought it).
