I mean, we were never going to run Jamaica off the pitch.

That was a great strike by Antonio. I truly believe Steffen was covering too much of the near side goal based on the position of Antonio. If Steffen was slightly better positioned, he may have made the save. Would Turner have made the save? We will never know.

Agree but you have to beat Jamaica if you are thinking of taking the next step.

Young players that have not played in road Concacaf qualifiers are going to struggle. It’s just a different type of game entirely. A shite pitch. More physicality allowed. 1 point is by no means what we’re looking for, but I’ll take 4 in this cycle.

What is the next step?

Keep in mind, we missed the World Cup last cycle. And I think we are improving, bossing Mexico a few days ago and not just "out-willing" them shows that.

Doesn't mean we're going to play beautiful every match.

No one likes to hear it, but this team is still young and naive, it's going to be a rollercoaster.

With that said, Musah and Weah being the first two subs off was dumb on Gregg's part.

Taking off Weah was puzzling to me. He looked the best of the front 3. Musah was too lax in possession (getting dispossessed) but he puts pressure on the defense with his runs carrying the ball.

The biggest concern is still the striker position. We have talent and skill in every other position when we’re fully healthy

I think Pepi is still our best option and it's worth going through the growing pains with him as an 18 year old. It will pay off in Qatar I think.

Maybe but that’s my point. The best option we currently have is a teenager playing for FC Dallas. What’s Jozy and Bacon up to these days?

Jozy is (shocked face) injured.

Bacon is puzzling, he was bagging goals for dayzzzz during COVID, now he is without a club.

And I dunno why we keep falling for it with this team, they blow our minds with a great performance and immediately following it up with shite.

We looked like we were about to win 4-0 in the first 21 minutes then Antonio hit that absolute banger and we went to total shite. This was the most mentally weak this group has looked in long time. Very much have off the vibes of last cycle.

A bunch of teeny boppers with no chemistry are inconsistent? Shocker.

Weah looked gassed. I might have put him up top and pulled Pepi if I wanted to find a way to keep him on the field. I would have preferred Christian come on at half time.

This team is not built for a physical road match with a shite pitch.

Someone posted this early in the thread:

“From Twitter average age of lineup is 22 years 341 days, second youngest XI in WCQ history

And this is with Zimmerman at Yedlin at 28 and Steffen at 26”

This was never going to be anything other than an ugly affair. Second youngest team ever, on the road on a near unplayable surface. The starting lineup today is probably missing 5-6 guys that when healthy/eligible are starters (m. Robinson, dest, mckennie, Reyna, pulisic, Brooks).

Maybe so, I just remember thinking right before it happened that Weah and Musah were the only ones willing to take on players over the last 10 minutes.

Busio was meh, very Lletget like where he seemed to always turn towards his own goal when he received the ball. I think he knew everyone on Jamaica was faster than him and he was afraid to make a mistake.

We really did look great until the Antonio goal that came out of nowhere.

Pepi was very active as well. He fell off completely after that.

Eta: Bacon signed with a team in Iceland two weeks ago.

Based on his recent play with the USMNT, I think he does.
