100% agree

What people don’t realize is eventually all streaming will increase and increase prices and people will then spend more than cable but have to manage so many accounts. Cable puts it all together in one easy to use package. Surprised people can’t see this.

This board disappoints once again. Next thing they’ll tell me is that we don’t all smash OT 10s on the reg

I agree. It sucks for growing the game but that’s not concacaf’s goal here. Plus fricking over the US is pretty on brand now that I think about it.

I understand y'all stance on this but we have it great in this country. We have access to a ton of leagues (way more than most countries around the world). I remember paying $40 to watch away U.S. World Cup qualifiers leading up to the 1998 WC.

In our last two wins over Canada, the goalscorers have been Gyasi Zardes (brace), Jordan Morris, Aaron Long and Shaq Moore.

So I guess we got to start Zimmerman, M-Rob today.

Heard MRob picked up a knock. Might be Zim & Birmingham’s Chris Richards LINK

I think we're going to go speedy backline again since Canada loves to hit on the counter and our midfield is now down 2 regulars.

Richards and Trusty?

I would be surprised if Trusty starts over Zimmerman, given their respective records with the team. I would honestly prefer to see Trusty right now based on form, however he did look shaky in his last appearance for us. I’m most concerned about Davies going at Scally. I would really prefer a more mobile CB (ie Trusty) to cover on that right side.

I'd think if Trusty plays, he'd be on the left and Richards on the right.

New Behind the Crest that begins with Gio/Scally bleaching their hair and ends with the Mexico match. It's just so fricking awesome having been following Pulisic and McKennie since they were literally kids and seeing them blossom into legit team leaders now.

Trust me I would rather Dest but Scally is our RB that has faced Davies the most in his career so there’s that

While true, it's still not that much. Over the last 2 seasons, BVB and Bayern have met 5 times, Scally missed one of those games with COVID and sat on the bench for another. In another game, Scally and Davies were both left back, so not much 1v1 defending happening there. So it appears the two have faced each other only twice.

You’re right. Trusty is left footed. Let’s just get the job done tonight against the maple syrup slurping fricks.

I love Zimmerman and still believe he has a place on this team this cycle, but I just think Canada's frontline is a terrible matchup for him. Really think we would've been better off having him captain the Gold Cup squad.

Speaking of which, will Miles need to be replaced on the Gold Cup roster?

Is there any competitive reward at all for winning the nations league (i.e. qualify for top seed in concacaf WCQ, qualify for whatever replaced the now defunct confederations cup, etc.)?

Same question, what about the Gold Cup that starts this week? Forgot what the reward was for that…

Other than FIFA points, no.

And nothing replaced the Confederations Cup. It just went away, so I guess in that sense, there really is no reward for winning the Euros or Copa America either.

With that said, the 2025 Gold Cup is expected to basically be the Gold Cup+Confederations Cup.

Gotcha, and wasn’t the whole reason the different confederations came up with these nations leagues pretty much just to replace friendlies and get awarded more FIFA ranking points by competing in these “tournament” games instead?

It was a dumb thing that UEFA came up with so its smaller nations could get a FIFA rankings bump and CONCACAF followed suit. It's pointless for the Englands, Spains, Germany's of the world, but it really fricks up us because instead of being able to play friendlies against UEFA and CONMEBOL squads where we can get a better litmus test of where we stand, we're fricking playing two matches against Grenada.
