I really want us to abandon all Aaron Long and Tim Ream thoughts/sets.

I'd rather play with Miazga/Zimmerman/Omar as a straight back three if we are pushing Lima up so far.

I hate the idea of Ream/Long against Mexico. Or even Trinidad and Tobago for that matter.

So, I'd just left the tv on FS1 after the game while doing some other stuff. They did a montage of scenes, mostly from Twitter, of the game atmosphere...including playing the first 6 seconds of this one.

Yeah right now with Brooks out give me Miazga and Zimmerman in the middle. For me Zimmerman has been better in all assets of the game over Long in their caps

Ream, like Zardes, is just pointless. We aren't going to learn anything new and the best we can hope for is they don't screw too much stuff up.

Reflecting on the performance, it needs to get much better than it was. The first half was a slog.....against Guyana. That just can't happen. Our entire gameplan in attack was switch it out wide or play it over the top to a winger and hope they can create something. Our midfield was basically non-existent in buildup play which is even more infuriating since we are playing our best player out of position at attacking mid. Hopefully the insertion of Jozy this tournament and the combo of him and Sargent in the future fixes this

I thought Lima acquitted himself well which makes you wonder again about the need for Adams in that role as a must. Lima also seemed to stay wider as a more traditional RB and not tuck in next to Bradley. This left Bradley isolated though as we have discussed as nobody really worked to get back to him. In the end we became way to reliant on Zimmerman and Bradley hitting balls over the top. This shite won't fly against actual competition

Excuse my ignorance, but would a back 3 in combination with Adams and Bradley in the same line, be feasible?

Changes to Starting XI for next game?
Jozy for Zardes? Others?

Miazga for Long please. I think you sit Weston so he will be well rested for Panama... Roldan? Jozy gets on for a 30 min warmup for Panama.

The biggest problem with our team becoming a top team is the lack of talent at numerous positions! We have a few better than average players, but the majority of our team is MLS quality.

It was the main problem for Jurgen and Arena in their failed World Cup qualifying, and it seems to be the biggest issue facing Berhalter.

I firmly believe that last night was a situation where GB knew what we'd be getting with the MF players and rested a few players like Jozy. He needed to get Pulisic and McKennie some time on the field to gel in game conditions with the new setup. I think that was the cause of the crappy play in the first half. Just rusty in the MF.

Once that rust came off, Pulisic demanded a ton of attention which opened tons of space in the middle and opposite him. I have a hard time believing Miazga lost his spot and Omar will not play. Maybe Omar not playing will happen though, because Zimmerman has played his arse off.

I enjoyed seeing Zimmerman carry the ball forward into space to create more. Beautiful and really helped our offensive side thrive.

Also, Lima is the future. I am convinced.

Omar is old... CCV should have held that roster position.

Not gonna disagree there, but CCV has yet to prove himself with the natties. His few appearances haven't been all that impressive.

Talent was not the main problem in failing to qualify. Looking at that team from top to bottom you can't say it shouldn't have qualified. That team had more than enough talent to get the results needed to qualify but didn't for other reasons.

Some of these game ratings appear harsh.
Lima with a 5?

Talent was still a main problem, just like it's still a main problem today.

Many of our CONCACAF opponents have players of USL quality.

These seem more representative?
Lima with a 7.

We have always had limited talent, but we used to have heart, moxie, and the will to outwork opponents. Somewhere we lost that. We went from being Rudy to that guy that thought he was an all American but got demoted to the prep squad.

I agree that talent is and has always been an issue but the talent is and has been there to at least get the 4th spot in CONCACAF. Now talent to exceed outside of CONCACAF is a whole other issue.

Talent compared to the rest of CONCACAF was never a real problem... that talent problem came when we played outside of CONCACAF, and even then, we had a system and a belief that made us greater than the sum of our parts.

We've definitely regressed in that area.

There was rust for sure but we had this same problem with spacing in the 2 previous games as well - the 6 would be totally isolated with a wall of defenders in front of him and nobody working back to get the ball.
