For a player none of us had heard of a month ago, Tyler Boyd has made a great first impression. When’s the last time we had a winger who could consistently beat defenders and create scoring chances? Landon Donovan, maybe? That’s Pulisic’s natural role, but we can’t play him there right now. With how much Berhalter’s system relies on the wingers, if Boyd keeps playing like that, he’ll be an ink-in starter.

Our wing play was by far the best part of our performance last night. Arriola and Boyd caused havoc all game. Everything else needs work. We struggled to build through the middle and didn’t control the midfield as well as we should have.

I think just having Jozy out there instead of Mr. Memegoal would have made a huge difference in building through the middle. Zardes contributes nothing in that regard, while Jozy can make the attackers around him more dangerous and score legit goals himself. We just have to hope they’re easing him into the tournament.

Woah, lets pump the breaks a little bit.

Boyd could be very good for us and I liked what I saw from him yesterday, but it was Guyana last night, lets see what he can do against teams with a pulse before we make him an "ink-in" starter. Particularly against teams that will try to be physical with him.

My takeaways from the game. We looked lost in the midfield and Bradley is far too slow now.

Defensive 3rd - C
Middle 3rd - D
Final 3rd - B

Do people actually watch the matches or just say shite about Bradley hoping that everyone will agree out of anger?

Also. giving the highest grade to the final 3rd is laughable. That was where we were at our worst. So many missed chances.

He looked really good against Venezuela (a team that's better than most on here are giving them credit for). Already looks like the best crosser on the team.

This was a great move for both sides. US benefits from his play, and he will greatly benefit from the number of eyes on him if he performs, compared to New Zealand. I imagine his value has already risen after just a few games.

I thought he had an average Michael Bradley game. Played his role, nothing too flashy, a few mistakes, some great feeds up front. I'd still like to see him be a little more creative when pressured.

We see Gyasi Zardes bumble around and score goals on accident.

But in his brain, he's like

He makes accidental goals and assists into an art form.

Something to consider once Yedlin returns from injury this cycle, Nick Lima has seen more time at LB for San Jose this season than RB.

Steffen
Yedlin-Miazga-Brooks-Lima
Adams
Pulisic-McKennie
Boyd-Altidore-Weah

Anyone thinking the USMNT has enough talent to be a top class world football power must be smoking dope!

We have made some strides, but not nearly enough.

Past successes have numerous causes. Team spirit, consistent style of play, a few outstanding performances and players, as well as world class goalkeeping would be a few. We currently lack some of the factors that helped lead to past successes.

I am not saying we should not have made it to last world cup. When you have small margins of error, things will go against you sometimes.

Like it. Would love to see Lima get a shot at LB and have us, you know, actually play with a LB

Since 1994, we never had small margins for error in CONCACAF. Talent-wise we have been and should always be at the top there.

I think the only change I would make is dropping McKennie to the DM slot so Adams and Pulisic can be our attacking midfielders. But that would be my precise starting XI right now, with everyone healthy.

I'm so done with this generation of forwards: Arriola, Zardes, and Morris do nothing for me. Altidore should play, keeping the seat warm for when Sargent or Soto can claim the job from him. I at least like Bobby Wood's work rate. He's about the only other guy I'd consider. from the bridge generation between the older guys and the new kids.

I would take an out of form Bobby who hasn't played a club game in months right now over "in form" Zardes

I agree Bobby is better than Zardes on Bobby’s worst day. I still think he is our second best striker behind Jozy, but he will be behind Sargent and Soto soon.
