A league as big as MLS needs to domestically produce quality players to work The structure of producing players in this country is not set up to do so
You must not be paying attention to what Dallas, Seattle, LA, NYRB, NYCFC, SKC, Toronto, and DC are doing. Yeah I get it, P2P sucks. You can’t sit there and not acknowledge that there’s been massive improvement in our academy system over the past ten years.

Welp, I’m gonna go sip a little weed, and watch a couple episodes of Wings so I can feel right about life again. USMNT just isn’t healthy for one’s well-being. Adios amigos!

Which is not true considering Pulisic's comments the other day.
Pulisic is more pissed about the lack of movement and creativity than we are.

It’s literally not enough
The potential of 32 free academies for 200+ million people is no where close to the infrastructure
Compared to England that have thousands of academies
Or in Germany or other parts of the world where every neighborhood has its own set up
USSF needs to be doing the leg work to help identify and vet talent to MLS set ups to fill those gaps
But it will never do that

I hate to be the guy that nitpicks everything Gregg says especially when this is just coachspeak BS, but damn, reading this gives me a migraine.
There was no fight from this team, there was no tenacity. This is not as bad as saying "we're moving in the right direction" after losing 3-0 to Mexico, but this is dumb.

“Tonight was about the tenacity and relentlessness of our guys to keep fighting... Overall I think it was a good step for the group to play a game like this.”

He took this out of the Jurgen playbook.

Ironic that the only thing we ever won with before he showed up was heart. Cobi goat

This was a weird game. Very little effort or intensity from either team. Uruguay just sat back and countered, which I don’t think anyone expected after how bad we looked against Mexico’s press. Seemed like they were just there to collect a paycheck and not get hurt.
We did better at getting the ball into the attacking third, but still struggled to really do much threatening with it. It’s hard to really evaluate the midfield, since Uruguay didn’t really press them at all, compared to what Mexico did. So even though we looked better than we did on Friday, that was mostly just due to Uruguay being very passive.
Not much to be happy or angry about today. Nobody will remember this game a year from now. Just a very meh game, all around.
I liked Pomykal’s cameo today, and Morris played well. Tim Ream had a good game in his hometown, and Dest had some good moments. I just hope these two games don’t dissuade him from accepting a cap-tying call-up next month.
Aaron Long needs to get his head straight. He’s played badly ever since his transfer fell through. He won’t have any good offers if he keeps playing like he has for the last month.

I'm glad we can agree on this.

What's your definition of academy? And where are you getting this number from?

I liked the Bradenton idea before they scuttled it.

We need to show fight, we need to be mean on the field, we have to be nasty
He just wasn't up for the moment
Berhalter is Jurgen 2.0 with this shite

Do you know how the youth set ups work overseas
There are academies that are not part of any big club that train and coach kids for free
They then move to pro clubs if they are good enough or some stay and keep developing
I know from living in these countries there are literally thousands. My town in England had two. The city I lived in Germany had countless. There was two with in a 10 min walk of my house.

How are they funded?

Do you understand the dynamics of transfer fees?
Not all that money goes to the selling club
A % in most cases is trickled down to the lowest level club that helped develop that player
That and the federation pumps money into the set ups
The English FA put over £100 million back into grassroots level football
They put money in our USSF charges instead

Also for example their is a low low level basically amateur club in the neighborhood my in laws live in. About 800 meters from their house is the team facility
Multiple fields and a game field along with a clubhouse where people drink and watch matches on tv
Basically a ton of the players help coach all the kids. It’s a place all the kids can play even when their isn’t an official practice
