Brought to you by ADHD and Google AI.
Key facts about Paraguay include:
- Indigenous Heritage: It is the only country in the Americas where an indigenous language, Guarani, is spoken by the vast majority of the population alongside Spanish.
- Hydropower Giant: Home to the Itaipu Dam (built on the border with Brazil), it is one of the world's leading producers and exporters of renewable hydroelectricity.
- Quirky Military Trivia: Despite having no access to the ocean, Paraguay maintains a massive, fully operational river navy to patrol its waterways.
- The "Tereré" Culture: Paraguayans are famous for drinking tereré, a refreshing cold herbal tea made from yerba mate. People regularly carry around large thermos jugs for it as an everyday accessory.
- A History of Resilience: Following the devastating War of the Triple Alliance (1864–1870), the country lost the majority of its male population, leading to a society historically rebuilt and sustained by its women.
- Unique Flag: It is one of the only countries in the world with a national flag that features a different emblem on the front and back.

I wonder if Weah knows the N-word in the Guarani language, and that’s why he punched that guy last time around?

- World Cup 2026: Lost to the US in their opening match of the 2026 World Cup after the US's Christian Pulisic scored a hat trick.

Didn't a bunch of Nazis move there after WWII?

Wouldn’t surprise me. I know Argentina and Bolivia were both chock full of ‘em all the way into the 80s and 90s even.
Pretty sure Joseph Mengele lived in Paraguay for a while before the Jews hunted him down.

Paraguay is not a popular tourism destination but it's one of the cheapest in the continent.
It's military history is fascinating, between the War of the Triple Alliance you mentioned as well as the Chaco War.
Everyone speaks Guaraní because in the late 1800s the president mandated mixed race marriages in order to eliminate the native Guaraní people. It backfired, because most people identify with the culture and it eliminated the discrimination of it.

Paraguay had the same number of points in CONMEBOL qualifying as Brazil. We cannot overlook them.

Very carefully.
But my assumption is the grid is somehow connected to a neighboring county.

Back when the Libertadores hadn’t lost the plot, Cerro Porteño was always a tough out.
