This sequence is why I don't like starting Pepi. (In a nutshell)

You're fresh dude... why are you loafing in 2 critical situations?

I haven’t followed Pepi’s career but I will say that some guys aren’t good coming in cold off the bench and trying to fit in immediately with the rest of the team that’s already in a groove.

There is nobody we have that is close to being a replacement for Balogun. Pepi or Wright aren’t the answer if we plan to win. The team is going to have to step up and compensate in other ways because Balogun is irreplaceable.

Iran held Belgium scoreless.

Senegal put two past Courtois.

This is certainly still a side capable of moments of pure class, and 5 minute spurts of dominance, but this aint your big brother's Belgium

That is piss poor effort, especially considering he was a late sub with fresh legs. I’m ready to see Haji.

Over the course of Pepi's career, both club and country, he has performed well off the bench and pretty bad as a starter.

He's a good hold up guy and combines well with the rest of the attack. My biggest issue with him is that his positioning is hardly ever correct.

He's a weird one where he'll play great one game, then disappear for the next 3. It's always surprising to me how small he plays given his height and frame. No reason he shouldn't be on the end of headers in the box on a regular basis.

I don’t disagree with you. You are correct about Wright over Pepi. The problem is neither Wright or Pepi will help us at all. They won’t even need to be defended or respected by Belgium as threats. They won’t help open up anything.

Doku, is the only one that concerns me… can’t expect one defender to cover him, we must bring in cover 1 & 2 to help, but don’t go tight… lay off and wait for the give and go, bump, intercept, transition.

Haji has a better work rate than Pepi… I’d start Pepi, give him a look and be ready to put in Wright.
