[I realize we already have an 'absolute state' thread, but it's mainly dedicated to clubs.]

We've seen the absolute clusterf*** in the buildup of the WC with the backdoor dirty money transferring, and moving a WC into the winter schedule built on the back of slaves. And with millions of people descending upon a small islamic country that only holds a few million, and the seismic culture clashes ensuing while the whole world watching, I figured we could funnel all potential "Fyre Festival" reports into this thread, and follow the hilarity.

Feel free to contribute.

Have we any plans to have Cup Contest wherein each of us lads prognosticates:

1. which sides advance to knockout from each group

2. Each stage of the knockout round through the final and the consolation match

3. Points are assigned to each correct pick (1 point for each correctly chosen team that advances, 2 points for first knockout round, 3 points for quarters and so on.

Fans accommodations cost $200 a night with no solid walls.

The Tweeting begins

Am I the only one who thinks 200 a night is quite cheap for such a large sporting event? I get that the rooms suck, but you’re paying motel 6 prices. As long as the facility is safe, I don’t really see the big deal.

Qatar is a strict country with a large police force. I highly doubt crime will be an issue

Yep, because the police will be committing the majority of the crimes.

The state of Sepp Blatter admitting Qatar was a mistake

The state of living in a glorified tent without AC or heating in the middle of the desert, for $300 a night.

This is all I could find that was outlining some issues. Some of it is just journalist bitching, but I would not want to be in a hotel room without heat in the Winter Olympics, not have hot water, or be told if the water gets turned back on don’t use it on your face it could be dangerous.

And now the Royal Family is requesting no beer at stadiums at all

Who didn't see this coming. First they had them move the zones, now they're just gonna ban it all together. Budweiser gonna lose their shite.

I honestly think it's refreshing to hear woke people ignored for a change. Rock on, Qatar King Muhammed. The world won't stop turning over a beerless soccer game

Official, beer no longer being sold in all 8 stadiums. Announcement 2 days before kick off. Yeah, I hope Budweiser is pissed off.

FIFA said in a statement: "Following discussions between host country authorities and FIFA, a decision has been made to focus the sale of alcoholic beverages on the FIFA Fan Festival, other fan destinations and licensed venues, removing the sales points of beer from Qatar's FIFA World Cup 2022 stadium perimeters."
