Many great defensive goal line stands are taken away because the ball was a big toe over an imaginary line

Does that make sense?

An infraction is an infraction

hockey has solved this and has created a more dynamic and compelling spectating/ playing experience
So compelling that in this country it's viewed by far less and played by far less

Good work

the lack of scoring is the biggest issue outside of the diving/ theatrics

If that were the case then indoor soccer would be really popular. They also do the outside rule like you want. Yet...

This thread is proof that soccer is growing in this country, because usually this type of thread only happens during the World Cup.

Apparently the American public is now watching soccer more than just once every four years.

I wish they were more lenient with the offside rule. Many great goals are taken away because a player was a big toe over an imaginary line. A player can time it perfectly and not leave early and not gain an advantage whatsoever, but because his toes were over an invisible and constantly moving line, a great goal is taken away. It’s stupid.

I don’t know when this changed but it’s changed in the last 25 years or so. I ref’s in high school and the teaching back then for offsides was it was only offsides if you could see light between the 2 players. I much prefer that rule as opposed to the current rules of it being like a race and you can’t have any portion past the defender. This encourages the offense to push the line more.

When I played in high school we were taught to hug the defender and then run parallel to the goal before receiving a through ball pass. This allowed you to get to full speed while on side to beat the defender. I guess you can still do that but you have to be well onsides

The indoor types would be more popular on a global scale if this were the case. So would hockey, but they are not.

Or like beach soccer. I’ve watched it a few times but I wouldn’t go out of my way to watch.
