She's now embarrassed the USWNT in an international match

Yes, I know that nobody watches womens' matches outside of the WC and Olympics, but this is still a black eye for US Soccer, IMO.

It's just so dumb, already played out, and says everything about this day in age. Y'all knelt for the anthem...great, HUGE difference it's made in the world other than tightening the screws on an already tense country that thinks its problems are way bigger than they are.

she seems annoying.

kaepernick doing it doesn't really bother me, but when you are taking part in a NATIONAL team game, it only makes sense that you honor the NATIONAL anthem.

i still don't think i give a shite though.

People could follow the move that the owner of an opposing team did in regard to all of this controversy. He simply moved the anthem up and it had already been performed when the players walked out for the match. He stated that he was not going to give the player the opportunity to use the anthem as a stunt for her own personal grievances and to call attention to herself. Rapinoe was not happy.

I'm pretty sure that FIFA requires the anthems to be played while the teams are lined up on the pitch for international matches.

Which proves its not about "not being able to support" something. Its about "wanting to shite" on something.

I get the whole freedom of speech thing when she is playing for her club team. The national team is different to me.

Turned the game on right at the time they showed her kneeling.

Couldn't turn that shite off fast enough. Is rather watch mickey mouse club for 3 hours than support her arse.

My whole thing with it is that you are already a famous athlete and have a podium to speak out on things. Use it. If you're that concerned about something "further the conversation" then. Start local. Get in front of your community leaders and try to affect a change. Build from there.

Oh and also realize that it's your right to sit or kneel but it's also someone's right to call you an a-hole for doing so

I don't think what she is doing is fake in her mind, but it certainly comes off that way when you don't recognize the anthem, only to still wear the crest and colors.

It seems hypocritical to wear the crest and play for the country that you think is so bad you won't even stand for the anthem.

Ultimately I don't care. But if I was a coach I wouldn't tolerate it just because we are a team and you are taking it upon yourself to direct all the attention on you. That's just selfish bullshite. Be an activist on your own dime. I'm paying you to stand with this team. Either do it or move on.
The rest of the team didn't bust their asses all this time so that your pet crusade can be asked about ad infinitum to all our players.

Yep, it comes off as a tad selfish considering that her contract is paid by US soccer
