I was always impressed by his charisma. Messi is the GOAT but is so soft spoken (not that there’s anything wrong with that) and will probably never speak English like Pele.

The original GOAT. Dude was so personable and helped the game grow so much. Idc what anyone says, he’s always going to be in my top 3 players of all time. Obrigado, lenda. Descanse em paz.

Check out this documentary about the Cosmos if you really want to see the impact Pele had on soccer here. It’s an ESPN production and you should be able to find it streaming somewhere.

The first biography report I ever did as a wee lad was on Pele.
So please spare us. Some of us grew up on soccer.
My mom even kept this note I wrote to myself in like 1st grade on what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote I wanted to play for Brazil like Pele.
Obviously I didn’t know you couldn’t do that back then, but still. I didn’t want to be an astronaut or a lawyer or the president. I wanted to be like Pele.
