Italy’s Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that the Blues were willing to offer Juventus $95 million to bring the French midfielder to Stamford Bridge, and would pay Pogba nearly $275,000 per week in wages. According to French news outlet L’Equipe, Jose Mourinho called Pogba this summer in an effort to seal a move to Chelsea, but the club never submitted an official bid after Pogba told Mourinho he would be staying in Italy.

Falcao got paid more at United

Also Pogba didn't see Chelsea as a step up. Apparently Chelsea offered another player as part of the deal, which was rejected by Pogba and Juve.

Arsene won't pay for breakfast. No way he would spend on Pogba.

Yeah I was reading Pogba wanted close to 300k. That would have been crazy, especially cause hazard is our highest at 200k.

It's a sad state of affairs when people are turning down 200k+ a week.

Well he also saw the start of the season Chelsea got off to, and maybe he didn't want to take his chances on a team that would struggle to stay in Europe next year.

He certainly turned down a big raise again but it's not like he's starving on €4.5/yr after tax + bonuses (which is over £100k per week as the English confusingly put it) right now.

Question for those who have followed for much longer than me... Who are some other world class players throughout history that left/flamed out at huge clubs only to then really develop to be considered one of the world's best?
