He must have been misquoted right GhostofJackson?!

WST

quote:

“l’m just going to come out right out and say it: the Primeira Liga is much more intense and much harder to play in than Major League Soccer,” proclaimed Cannon.

quote:

“That’s no slight to Major League Soccer. It’s obviously grown. It’s obviously improved, but there’s nothing that will compare to having a life-or-death game on the line. When you’re in the last game of the season, your fans are surrounding the game and if you lose, it’s 1-1 in the 90th minute, you get relegated.”

That life-and-death of the game part probably has more to do with Boavista only paying him on time once in the last three years.

The premise of what he's saying isn't wrong though is it

Inter Miami are bottom, are they at risk of relegation?

No

Instead the league is paying for them to create an all star squad with Messi.

Just no pressure to do well at all

O he’s 100% right

There is no punishment for being terrible in MLS

Even worse… there’s a mild incentive. High draft pick and potentially having all your fellow owners chip in to buy you the GOAT

MLS will never be able to replicate the intensity that pro/rel provides, except in maybe a championship game.

Eryk Williamson was interviewed by scuffed or TSS about his time in Portugal and said he was surprised by how poor the facilities were.

Where did I say MLS was ahead of Portugal? Ya'll come up with stupid shite. Portugal, according to UEFA, is as good as France which apparently SCH likes to gives blowies to.

You took a shot at the French league for some unknown reason

A league that produces some of the best players in the world

Listen up neckbeard, you literally ducked out of the last thread when I brought facts and you brought feelings. Do you notice the amount of downvotes you get in every thread you argue with someone on? You're arguments don't even make sense. You know I've never said MLS was better than Portugal and you just rolled with the idiot OP whose also making up stuff. You did, though, say France is better league than Portugal and the Netherlands which puts you at odds with the literal governing body of the sport that says they are equal. Tell me more about how you "feel" about which leagues are stronger.

I'm not making shite up. You constantly boast MLS as the next great league in the next 5-7 years. I wouldn't frick with you unless I see stupid fricking comments. How about you learn and WATCH leagues like Ligue Un before you claim MLS is close if you take PSG out. That makes you look like an uninformed idiot.

I'm not here to bash MLS but changes have to be made to progress. I have watched a lot of MLS matches lately since Europe is on hiatus. I have enjoyed a couple of matches. Overall the quality of play leaves a lot to be desired. That could be helped with opening up the rules on foreign player restrictions but Don says no.

Reading your drivel post would make people think MLS is on the brink of taking over the NFL

I was done letting you derail the transfer thread so I didn’t respond

Ooo so that’s your metric now on how a debate goes. Even so I don’t get downvoted that often and even in the back and forth we had it wasn’t that much. Probably by just you and a MLS lover

Best part about rankings is they change

As long as the French league keeps producing elite talent it will be a good league

But you won’t even acknowledge that just because some it’s clubs are having a down year or two

Dude look how unhinged you are getting on a message board defending MLS. Throwing out personal insults

This.

Which leagues are clearly better from top to bottom? I’ll give anyone the Big 5 leagues in Europe. Maybe even Argentina and Brazil. You still need three more to not consider MLS a top ten league in the world.

And any league other than those 7 named above can have holes poked in its case. Some don’t have enough teams, some have shitty clubs after the title contenders. Most will say the Netherlands, Belgium, and Portugal.

He only plays about an hour away from the Douro Valley as well. If I were him I’d build a house somewhere in between Regua and Pinhao, and then just coast off into retirement. That area of Portugal is just phenomenal.

Straight up…as long as soccer in America is commandeered by hipsters waving gay flags, it will never catch on.

It’s such a try hard culture.
