Probably a contributing factor as to why Dempsey would want to go the L'pool to be able to play with a guy as quality as Gerrard.

I wouldn't even be surprised if he got a fat contract from Warrior to be their sponsor either. That would be huge for both of them.

I agree and I hope we don't spend 10 or more on him... But in the short term, with a few other acquisitions, he can help bridge the gap as we bring in youth... Hopefully, he keeps scoring goals...

From his end, I don't care what anyone says, he gets to wear the red shirt of Liverpool Football Club... That's huge...

The shirt sales will rake in the money I guess.

Market exposure can't be understated. The more international fans the club has, the better off it is.

by no means am I saying Gerrard is the only likeable Liverpool player he is just the one I am most familiar with.

Oh yeah I wasn't getting at that. Sorry if I came off that way. I was just adding good guys to your list.

Not as huge as having your own statue and going down as one of Fulham's greatest players of all time IMHO.

Pool fans already make their shirts some of the most purchased every year. I'm not saying you are wrong, but how many American fans are going to become Pool supporters or buy shirts if they don't already have a club? I can't imagine it being astronomical. I mean, I find it hard to believe that this sways any International fans outside of America, and even here it will be minimal in the grand scheme of things. I'm reserving judgement on this move until terms are released. I just can't believe that he goes there unless it's significantly more cash.

ETA: Although he wanted to play professional soccer in Europe, so it's not hard to think he may have dreamed of playing for LFC. That shite can hold a lot of weight.

A lot. There are plenty of USMNT supporters who don't have a club. Seems like we have at least 1 or 2 threads a week where someone is needing advice to pick a club. Most of the advice we give them is to follow an American if they already like the USMNT. The American market remains relatively untapped. With more and more EPL games being shown on TV, fanbases are growing and having the most popular US soccer athlete on your roster is huge. Especially if he has another big year.

I've already talked to 3 guys who were in search of a EPL team who said if Deuce goes to Pool they'll be following the Scouse.

I know, i know, it's not like an official poll or anything. But I think there are definitely people out there who are itching to jump on a bandwagon.

So how many do you think become LFC fans? What do you consider significant? Over or under 100,000? I know a lot of people would become LFC fans, but in the grand scheme, it's a drop in the bucket.

I agree with you, but I just can't see a truly significant jump. You all sell 1 to 1.5 million shirts a year. If you convert 100,000 people sales go up 10% or less. It's not like Lebron to Miami kind of bandwagoning. Anyone know what Beckham did to Galaxy shirt sales? I'm asking, I don't know. I would think that would have been a more significant increase.

They would just be fans of Fulham if that's all it took then..

Using this number, Dempsey kits would make about $8M. That is a big number.

No shite. They sell 1-1.5 million shirts a year. How nuts is that? At first I assumed that to be money, but article said shirts.

Yeah, I'm sure they aren't getting that much per shirt. I don't know what a contract for kits would look like.
