I don't know what you are referring to. I readily admit that I am new to the game. In 2002, soccer didn't do much for me.

Sweet. Ty HH.

Let me clear up what I meant though, I can't wait until we are rivals with France, Italy, Germany, or Brazil... because we break their hearts in the WC. That's all I meant.

Look, I don't like Mexico. Wasn't dying for them to win. Just slightly wanted to see them knock Brazil off. I have my reasons for that, none of them being traitorous to the US.

Think I am going to watch some YouTube videos of past world cups and concacaf matches now.

Why would we not pull for our CONCACAF brothers?

We want CONCACAF to gain respect world wide, that gets our players respect and exposure.

It is like two siblings who fight tooth and nail, but always pull for each other.

As a Celtic fan, let me explain: frick them, frick them, and frick them. Let the rest of the Federation, especially Mexico, burn. These fricks don't try to actually play the game, they are a shower of hacking bastards who deserve to be buried in their own shite.

That's not what rivalries are.

Are you an LSU fan?

You don't "make" rivalries because a team gets better and competes with traditional powers.

Those teams will never see the USA as a rivalry and US soccer fans that follow the USMNT more than every four years won't see them as a rival.

Rivalries are built over decades. You need proximity, hate, history.

Beating a team once in the WC =/= rivalry.

Is Ghana our rival? They broke our hearts twice.

It's not about the World Cup or championships.

Any match between two rivals matter because beating the other is prize enough.

Mexico IS the USA's soccer rival.

Wifes Mexican so I root for them.

All day fiesta full of Tequilla, Micheladas, and Carne with these little bean and cheese burrito eaters, fun times

The amount of Mexican shirts in the Dallas Galleria at lunchtime today was too damn high.

I was pulling for Mexico today just due to I don't like the arrogance of Brazil. Also, like someone said, they are a north American country (concafe?) in our same conference. I view them like I view other teams in the SEC other than Bama. I generally pull for SEC teams against non SEC teams.

I sure saw a lot of frick Ghana posts.

Not all rivalries need proximity. There are quite a few examples in sport, i'll let you figure it out

Not calling Ghana a rival. Just pointing out that the heartbreak made that game a bigger deal for US fans

Beating Mexico is not prize enough for me. If it is for US soccer, then US soccer will stay at the level it is

There will be a lot of "frick Portugal" and "frick Germany" posts, too.

And proximity does not only geographical. NFL rivalries are often built on being the same conference.

You can keep up the futility but Mexico is the USA's rival in soccer.

I can't help it if you are confusing big games with rivalries.

The rest of the SEC doesn't try to purposefully frick games up and hurt players. CONCACAF countries (outside of the US and Canada), especially Mexico, do. They do not deserve, and I will not give, my support.

of course its not prize enough for us nobody said that. just seeing them do bad should bring joy to a true fan of the USA.

Those of you who stick around after this world cup will come to understand it over the next four years.

for those of you comparing CONCACAF to the SEC just dont understand it.

Also the SEC pride thing is stupid as well.

They aren't...but there is/was a definite grudge on the pitch yesterday after the last 2 WCs.

I pulled for a draw. Does that count as pulling for Mexico?

She just did Pedro

I also never said that Mexico isn't a rival. I just think some of the "hate" is manufactured through stories and legend, a way to get even more fired up.That is ok with me, too. Kind of like the mythical assaults on grandmothers and perceived acts of disrespect that Auburn fans were so fond of coming up with in the early 2000's to feel more hatred towards LSU when they lost.... and vice versa.

I get it.

I just didn't want Brazil to win. There was a draw. I'm mildly stoked. Kill me
