What a joke

that's why it's so ridiculous to talk hypothetical situations. Both teams had chances.

At some point the team that completed the most passes and had the most possession was always the better team. Finishing and defending apparently are not attributes that matter anymore. Any team that wins by defending and finishing is just "lucky".

I'm not sure I believe in "luck" in sports.

Well Johnson missed a shot from 7 yards out, Rooney missed a header from just as close, Young had a clean shot get deflected by a boot heel, Rooney had an open "bicycle" from 6-7 yards out, and Welbeck had a wide open shot from the top of the box that he put over. Italy's two best chances were either a lucky or amazing 25 yard volley by De Rossi and a cross that hit the post.

Then you're stupid. Of course luck exists in sports.
England didn't have as many chances as Italy. That's a ridiculous statement.

what a convincing defense. Agree with me or you're stupid. I didn't say it didn't exist I said I'm unconvinced.
fwiw, regardless of stats like robsavage said England were close to a goal numerous times, as were Italy. Italy passed better and set themselves up better but most of their shots were not even close.

Let's not forget the John Terry open invitation for Swag to stay inside MULTIPLE TIMES.

He got behind him with a real chance to score once and Terry recovered and blocked it. I just listed like four or five legit scoring chances for England. What did Italy create? The one Terry blocked, Lescott made a scrambling recovery once, the offside goal, and De Rossi's volley from 25 yards out? Italy had more shots England had more real opportunities to score.

Official hate on Ashley young for diving while simultaneously laughing at him and England thread?
Also how the hell is there always an England player in the way when a player takes a shot? freakin ball magnets.

my thinking is Roy likes Milner's D and passing.
Backward passing?
But I think part of the problem is they only want to attack up the left flank through the ashley's and whomever is on the right side (theo) gets ignored.

Well, then that policy needs to be reexamined.
To leave a true speedster like Theo on the bench until the 60th minute against a slow defense is unacceptable.

In all the England games I watched, Theo came on and immediately looked like one of the better players on the field. He made dangerous runs and set up real scoring opportunities, and his speed gave everyone fits. Not playing him more was a crime, IMO.

yea cassano shooting everytime he had the ball was such a threat

I said it in the other thread - they looked like expensive Greece
Walcott needed to start. In every game he was the offensive spark. Playing negatively will only get you so far.

Actually playing smart can make you Kings of Europe.

Italy had more pressure, but their forwards looked awful.
I'm not sure I've ever seen so many pointless crosses in a game. No one seemed to care enough to look for a target or find the ball.

Well playing like Greece did 8 years ago is hopefully the exception and not the rule. England wasn't that outmanned where they needed to resort to those tactics. They actually created some chances early on when applying pressure. After that, 11 men behind the ball. Forwards never could get into an offensive rythym.
Also, does anyone have the mean to make a GIF of Hart before the PKs were taken with his arms stretched out? That would be a badass "Come at me, bro"
