I hope Stevie retires. His international career will end his club career if he continues

Italia totally outplayed them. Should have never even went to PK's.

So, I asked why Scholes retired earlier in the in-game thread. This is why. England, what a joke

I don't understand why they play so negatively, England has so much talent, yet all they try to do is grind out games played in their own half.

And Rooney...did Pirlo slip some laxatives in his pre game beer or something? The game looked to fast for him, and his touch was not what I'm accustomed to seeing.

They did not use centrally is the biggest reason IMO. Scholes replacing Parker and running the offense could make them a far better side than they currently are.

England previously tried to run the offense through Gerrard and Lampard and they did not work well together.

This England squad was far from being stacked full of attacking talent.

James Milner runs a bunch.

Andy Carroll is talented, but super slow and uncreative.

Steven Gerrard performed admirably but is not 2005/2006 Stevie G.

Parker is quality, but lacks the vision of a Pirlo, Alonso or Iniesta.

Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain were only used sparingly.

England were built to play defensively.

ETA: Ashley Young was England's disappointment of the tournament. He looked so promising this year for United. He was England's best player in qualifying and in friendlies post-2010. Really strange no-show from Young.
