If he does want to go to a diamond, I know we have been linked again with Asier Illarramendi... with him at the base, Hendo and Can as the runners and Coutinho/Lallana/Markovic at the tip... a combo of Studge/Raheem/Balo(?)/New Striker up top?

Illarramendi seems perfect for that role, since he's more of a DM in the Xabi mold...

I think we'd really need to make RB a priority, as well..

Confirmed #LFC team v @WBAFCofficial: Mignolet, Johnson, Skrtel, Lovren, Can, Ibe, Gerrard, Henderson, Sterling, Coutinho, Balotelli
Trying to figure out what formation we'll go with.

3-4-3? 4-2-3-1? 4-3-3?

I like that it has some flexibility. Don't like Hendo and Gerrard as the only two midfielders, but hopefully Coutinho drops deep to help out. Also, not sure if I want us to try 4 at the back again with Can and Skrtel on the right after the way they got abused last week

Johnson

I don't understand it, he is on his way out. Why are we not giving time to younger guys who have much more upside?

On the flip side, Lovren is starting to look like he wasn't a wasted check after all. I still would like to see him play like this the rest of the year, but he has been solid for about a month now in his defensive duties.

I feel for Lovren... SO close to punching that into the corner.

This game is exactly why we aren't, nor deserve to be in the top 4. Granted WBA played for a draw, but these are simply the games you must win if you want to be competing for CL spots at the end of the season.

That was difficult to watch at times. Dominate possession in their half of the field, can't do @#$#@ with it.

When a team is sitting deep like that Jose style, you have to be clinical with your one or two chances. We weren't.

I agree with others - Lovren was one of our better players. Likely his best performance of the season. Too bad he couldn't put that late header in.

Cou kept looking like he would be dangerous, but there was always another defender ready to step up.

I stopped counting the number of times we had a winger with the ball outside on the side of the box, and exactly ZERO people in the box. Creativity was lacking. And it appeared to be BRs most dis-interested coaching job yet. Sitting down on the step. Not many shots of him yelling, tactical adjustments, or even writing @#$# down.

Yea we were way too static. I would prefer us to go back to the small rotational front 3. Rotating Sterling, Ibe, Lallana, Markovic and Coutinho if he's not in midfield. Got to find something to break down teams in the final third cause what we're doing now just ain't working.

No one was moving. Worse yet BR plays a target man (Balo) yet again without instructing his players to make themselves available within 5 yards. Literally the ONLY time we had a runner pick up a Balo layoff was the closest we came to scoring. That time with the Cou shot and the Hendo miss on the follow up. Watching this offense is infuriating. The answer is so obvious but BR refuses to acknowledge it. Its driving me nuts!

Me too buddy. Me too. If it takes half the sting away though, I wasn't sure Hendo got anything on that last attempt other than nearly kicked in the face. He tried to head it in but I don't think he even touched it.

Balo laid off for ibe for the hit on the crossbar.

Balo was involved in pretty much all our real chances except lover a header.

I think Hendo had to score that left footed rebound. Hit it low instead of high.

Rodgers isn't making much sense tactically - I feel like he *usually* works to his players strengths, but yesterday was the opposite.

It was always going to be tough to score against a side willing to sit deep and concede possession... That was painful to watch...

From what I'm reading, I'm kinda glad I slept through it... This has been a really frustrating season, and I'm still squarely on the Klopp idea.

I need some help with something, can somebody explain the FFP? I keep hearing that we can't compete financially for players with the clubs like Chelsea, City, United etc. I have been watching this club since 2005 and the landscape has definitely changed but I'm not sure I'm grasping FFP. I am specifically asking about our club and how it affects us going forward. I'll be on and off the site all day, thank you gentlemen.

I don't know much about it either (FFP). But I think one part of it has to do with limiting how much you can spend with new money. However, if you make money on the sale of players, I believe you're free to spend most of it without incurring the wrath of FIFA. Which is why selling Suarez for such a profit, and potentially selling Sterling at a huge profit could be so crucial. I am no expert, someone feel free to call me a Rooney and correct my glaring mistakes.

With the amount of revenue Liverpool generate and even more with the stadium expansion. You guys can easily compete with FFP.

FFP is helping control the out of control spending by clubs like City who live way beyond the means of the club.

So City is now getting way over market value shirt deals tied to their owner.
