The homegrown stuff will kick in eventually. Jordan Morris qualifies for that and could be the first big one for MLS.

But, but, but... Jordan Morris played college soccer. Therefore, he must be absolute crap.

Okay, carry on...

But don't let that logic get in the way of SCH's anti-MLS ranting.

Yep.

But for some reason he chose to play college soccer - for 2 seasons at least. I'm not disputing that college soccer is not currently great. I don't think it is beyond salvation - yet. Just providing a little anecdotal evidence that if we were to improve college soccer, it could prove useful for the sport in the USA.

If by "improve college soccer", you mean allow the players to train/practice an unlimited number of hours and play a season that lasts through the entire school year, you MIGHT make the system a LITTLE more useful. Then, it might pick up the "late bloomers" and give them a chance to develop. However, you'd still be looking at a massive competition and coaching gap. And the NCAA would never allow those 2 changes to be made.

I think people grossly underestimate the number of Ricardo Clarks, Mo Edus and Kyle Beckermans in the league. For a central midfielder, having to deal with guys like that week in and week out is a real bitch.

Exactly, what MLS lacks in being technical it makes up for in pace and physicality.

I imagine it's not a lot of fun to have Ricardo Clark chasing you around a field TRYING to knock you on your arse.

For 90 minutes.

In Houston.

In August.

But Gerrard, Lampard and Pirlo the last few months does.

If you don't look at age though, Pirlo and Lampard are still really good. Either of them would start for just about every team in the world. Does Citeh holding on to Lamps mean the EPL is a retirement league?

Let's be honest here, for one city didn't hang on to frank he was brought in on some shady shite for the purpose of helping their home grown quota and he was mostly a sub.

I think it's more the new CBA, which set limits on raises for players based on how many years they had been in the league. And Penedo was getting paid 50K less than that Finnish guy who doesn't play much.
