Give him anything he wants if he’s interested, but that seems doubtful.

Sell him on the idea that he could live life here in the States like a regular person since 99% of the population would know who he is unlike Europe. I keep thinking about Messi pushing a grocery cart in Publix like a regular person, had to be amazing for him to not be mobbed.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all to see Klopp manage a national team. I would venture to guess that if you could bet on it, the highest odds of his next job would be taking over the German team whenever Naglesmann is done which would time up nicely with Klopp taking a few years off from coaching

So I def wouldn’t say he’d never take the USMNT job, however I’d be absolutely shocked if he took it right now

I think the timing is just wrong. If this was all happening a year or 2 from now then I’d possibly get my hopes up, but he was still coaching LFC 2 months ago and man did he look super burnt out towards the end of our season after everything fell off the rails. It was very clear he needed some time off. It would be astonishing to see him accept a new job this quickly IMO

Fire Gregg, hire a caretaker who focuses on scouting and player development, and hire Klopp after next summer’s Gold Cup.

I mean, if he’s truly interested, they should do everything possible to hire him.

But he just quit because he said he was burned out and he wanted to take a year off. Why would he accept a job now? Particularly as coach of an average foreign national team.

The last thing we need is another Dave Sarachen purgatory year when we have a home World Cup coming up.

This is the USMNT. I had this conversation on Sunday, it would just be a stain on Klopp's swan song. Klinsmann couldn't do the job, Klopp won't be able to either.

There is a difference between the Turkish and Austrian players from today's match, and the trashy bar fight we were in against Panama. I don't know what the answer is, but throwing good managers at a team of weak nut players doesn't fix anything.

That tweet really doesn't have any substance to it, anyway. Even getting him in for England... England has a reputation of coasting to defeat for quite a while. We get hammered by weaker teams. Why take that job?

We really need to stop bringing Jurgy 1.0 into this like it's remotely the same thing.

If Jurgy 2.0 takes the job (which he won't), so many things would be hella different for the better, chief among them, players would be played in their correct position and would have a coherent tactical gameplan.

And players who can’t do the job or don’t play with intensity won’t play. Period.

I would love Klopp but recognize the risk that he won’t have a system for use with the players we have available

I'd be ok with that if it means it gives other guys an opportunity to step up.

Our lineup selections have been incredibly stagnant lately. Like we called in 26 players and played 16 or 17(?). It's not good to have basically your entire XI locked in for over a year.

Klopp stopped at Liverpool because he was stressed and tired. Why would he pick up a team like ours where the pressure is on to perform immediately with what we have, which at the international level isn’t much?

There’s probably less pressure on the U.S. manager from both federation and fanbase/citizens than there is the manager of any other top-30 nation. I mean, the USSF RE-HIRED Berhalter and probably 95+% of American citizens don’t even know what Copa America is/that it’s happening.

If you’re Klopp when evaluating the U.S. job, there’s good talent (in theory… “golden generation”), low pressure (relatively), can live a nice, semi-anonymous lifestyle in America, if you do make significant noise at the World Cup (like semifinals or beyond) you’d cement legendary status in the country and just continue to enhance your legendary perception in Europe. There’s a lot to like.

That being said, even if he’s interested/would accept, I’d be surprised if the USSF cronies would want to make that move.

Ehhh... I think we need to stop this. Yes, we have our best player the country has ever seen, but we've learned over the past 3-4 years that the generation around him isn't better than the 2002 generation that produced Donovan, Beasley, Dempsey, Gooch, etc.

Yeah, they are getting better opportunities in Europes top leagues, but the majority of them are rotational guys. I also think it's a lot easier for them to go overseas now because it gives those clubs a foothold in the American market if they have an American.

I guess in theory, but I think a lot of pressure inherently comes with a big name coaching a nation hosting the World Cup. Will it be like the day-to-day grind like Liverpool? nah, but he could definitely hurt his reputation (if that matters to him) should US go out in the round of 32 in 2 years.
