I watched the “Gerrard Slip Game”. It was my first intro to the Premier League. Had no rooting preference and no knowledge of the history and traditions of either club (Chelsea was the other squad).

That slip by Gerrard ended up being the end of a run at a title, but his response in the moment was everything I admire in a leader. Grabbed his players, told them basically “we go again”, and carried on.

Then I read the club background, and that’s what cemented it for me.

Watching videos of the Anfield crowd singing “You’ll Never Walk Alone” during moments that were heavily emotional regarding off-the-pitch events. Singing it to remind the players that the fans still believe when a match is close. Serenading the players with it pre-match.

Add that onto the countless magical moments regarding goals and comebacks in seemingly impossible circumstances, and that is why I love Liverpool.

It is leadership. It is a fortress. It is connection with the community. It is passion.

Liverpool, for me, is more than just a club… it is inevitable.

For me it was a combination of things Stevie G - we barely used to get some champions league games here on tv years ago (90s and early to mid 2000s) and didn’t really get league games. And I liked watching some. I liked Liverpool among a group of several teams I enjoyed watching but never had a favorite. SG changed that. The passion and energy and the goals (what a hit!). By the time I came across a highlight video his top goals Liverpool was must watch tv for me.

I generally love passion in players. I liked Rooney even though he was Everton and man united.

2005 champions league bandwagoner and grew up a beatles fan is about my only connection.

Watched the 2005 CL finals with some of my friends I played with who happened to be Man U fans. Decided to go for the team they disliked the most just to make them mad and then fell in deep over my head

I was staying in a no-stoplight town in Western Ireland. Checked into the only hotel, showered, put on a red polo shirt (the only collared shirt I brought) and went to the only pub in town.

I opened the door to the pub, stepped in, and someone handed me a baby amongst the cheering I somehow couldn't hear from the sidewalk. I had no idea what was going on, but it was May 13, 2006. Those were my kind of people: no idea who I was, handing me their baby out of excitement because I was wearing the right color.

Michael Owen signed with Liverpool after that '98 World Cup performance in France and I watched lots of their Champions League matches in the early to mid2000s on the TV and never rooted for anyone else in the Prem since.

He came through the academy, but his '98 WC performance is also what made me start to follow LFC... It was sporadic at first due to TV availability but by the mid 2000s I was starting to catch most matches...

Its the reason I still have a soft spot for Owen while I know a lot of the fan base sees him as Judas...

Looks like we are signing a 17 year old Colombian kid who can’t even play for us until April. Not the transfer news I need injected into my veins but it will tide me over for 24 hours.
