I know “trades” aren’t a thing, but I can’t help but think how well a Nunez+cash offer for Isak would benefit both clubs.

Newcastle need a number 9, and they watched Nunez put up 2 goals in 5 minutes a season ago. It just makes too much sense. Nunez stays in the prem/champions league and based on who is available I don’t see anyone better that Newcastle can target. With regular minutes I think he could bag 15+ goals a season somewhere like Newcastle.

It may come down to that if Sesko rejects them... maybe Jackson from Chelsea??

I'd prefer Nunez go abroad.. I think there is a real player in there, but who knows if we'll ever see it...

Looks like we aren’t even going to offer another bid at this point

I'm trying to understand our play here... all this the past couple of weeks to offer a flat £110mm and then walk away?

Im guessing they hope he pushes for a transfer..

Let the media and Isak get to Newcastle for a little while before making that 2nd bid.
Isak has already made it clear to Newcastle he wants to leave. The relationship between him and the club has suffered a lot over the last month.

Let Newcastle buy the replacement striker without 125m in their pocket and then they will come back to thr table. This has to be about negotiation and face saving. We already knew they wanted more than 110m.

I turned it on and he had already scored

The one thing he'll need to learn is when to pass/lay it off... he can tend to try and do too much at times... I'm sure that will come with age.. and to some degree it just shows he's not really scared at all...

So Virgil is sick and Alisson went back to Brazil because his wife is having surgery. Strong second game lineup for sure

It's on Paramount+, you just have to go to "live tv" to find it, not "sports".

Salah scores, all set up by Ekitike and his speed to find a wide open Salah in the middle of the box.

Wirtz had two good chances to score and missed, and he is definitely playing high like a 2nd striker basically. I thought Szob was playing that way towards the end of the last year, and i liked that.

Athletic scored off a set piece, heading the ball back to the middle off the free kick where someone was waiting wide open near the penalty marker to blast it into the back of the net.

First time seeing Frimpong play and man that cat is fast.

Ekitike with a brilliant assist to Salah to open the scoring in the second match.

Operating in the left channel, held his run to stay onside- beat the defender to the by line, and pulled one back at 45 degrees to pick out salah for an easy finish.

I love Nunez for his chaos, but it's a play that never gets off the ground with him because he would have been offsides. Very encouraging to see him make the play from the left channel as well, since that's how you get him and Isak on the pitch together.

Gakpo had an own goal, not his fault, but an unmarked target on a corner kick headed it off his face and into the goal.
Both of their goals came off set pieces.

Gakpo then came back and fired another goal into the back of the net.

Endo made a nice run with a pass from Chiesa and drew a penalty, only for Salah to sail it over the goal.

3-2 final.

There's so much offense with this team, but the defense hasn't been good at all. I know VVD wasn't back there, but it's not secret we've got to get better there, and we need more help outside of VVD and Konate.

We are going to be scary when everyone is clicking and on the same page... add in Isak and damn...

I was a bit surprised how inverted Frimpong was at times... Cody has really improved significantly under Slot.. Szobo is one of our best 11, it will be interesting to see how slot lines us up next weekend..

Yes. He is. Which is why i said earlier i don't understand why you see him left out of the starting XI on so many "predicted lineups"

He really has. The left side is his.

Although if Isak is added, I think that means Ekitike is playing on the left side and Gakpo is on the bench.

I was as well. He seemed to be right there with Salah most of the time, almost too close at times. Much different than before where Salah really had the entire right side to do whatever he wanted. Now he's got some serious speed to make runs down that right side and draw defenders away from Salah.

Yeah, the only reason I see is because he's not really a #6 and most assume Mac and Wirtz are the two #8s... He is a better player than Grav though, IMO... I guess its a good problem to have!

It will be interesting to see.. I don't see him as a wide player, but Slot can obviously make adjustments to the formation to accommodate him... He looked good as a CF today, no doubt..
