I imagine most of the former players played with Donovan, never played with Davis or Wondo and have never played for Klinsmann.

BTW, here's a good read:
From that excerpt, it's really not. He was an incredibly effective player because he used his speed well, not because he was fast. I've watched him play well at times this season, though he was bad for a few games leading up to camp. Rosters aren't made via a friendly and a couple of league games.
He still showed the ability to open games up doing very little. That's what separates good players from mediocre players, and that's why a lot of people are pissed the frick off.

Exactly.
Pace and power is, unfortunately, the focus of many fans.
However, it's the brilliant, unexpected pass out of nowhere that much more often breaks down a high quality, organized international defense (like, say, Portugal's).
It's why Italy did better in the past Euro's playing Antonio Cassano, laughably out of shape after a serious heart problem, instead of much more "in form" options.
Donovan's been the only American player for a long time to consistently provide those elite moments against top competition no matter his "form".
Nothing in Klinsmann managerial history makes me think he's above the exact kind of questioning he's receiving on this since it's the most controversial roster decision I recall regarding the USMNT.

Klinsmann is a bit of a tactical doofus, but I'm decently intrigued to see what his new assistant manager Berti Vogts provides. Martin Vazquez is a complete managerial failure, and I'm glad Klinsmann fired him.
I like that Klinsmann embraces new analytical data based on physical player tracking. I think he realizes America's one categorical advantage in international football is that we produce some of the best raw athletes. However, selecting John Brooks over Clarence Goodson based on stuff like VO2 max tests seems ridiculous. I don't think he's dumb enough to do that, but he has been previously accused of focusing too much on aerobics and other physical metrics.

Isn't this what Philip Lahm's book is basically about?

Evans said he trained almost exclusively at center back while he was with USMNT. Was caught by surprise at timing of decision.
This is the most moronic thing if true.

More importantly, he hired Tab Ramos, who tactically is very astute.

Your sig looks like it was written by a 15 year old girl writing a passive-aggressive facebook post to her now ex-boyfriend before permanently defriending him.

I don't think you know what passive-aggressive means.

I think your signature is childish and stupid. Better?

At least you aren't using fancy words that don't understand the meaning of.

Parkhurst said he felt he left everything on the field. "I just think that his mind was set up even before the camp was started."
Also annoying if true

Came here to post that. Kinda interesting. What say you klinssman apologists?
Let me guess. Parkhurst is butthurt?

See, the fact that multiple players think this is kind of alarming.

i never really thought parkhurst had a chance, so for some reason his statement doesnt hold as much weight to me.
clarence goodson saying he couldnt get a reason out of klinsmann for being cut is much more interesting to me. goodson was pretty borderline to me, and every player being cut deserves to know why. even if it's as simple as "we thought the other guys at your position were better/could contribute more." that's a pretty easy way out so it's odd that klinsmann didnt at least give him that.
