You do not know that. I do believe that you think you know that.

"The last 10 days he did everything right," Klinsmann said of Donovan. "He was always positive, he took it the best way possible. So his disappointment is huge. I totally understand that. He took it very professional, because he's an outstanding professional player and he knows that I have the highest respect for him."

I think it was half personal, and half that he wanted to move Donovan from a Winger/Second Striker, to only being a Second Striker. I can understand if he just doesn't like the guy, but I can't really understand him thinking Brad Davis belongs over him.

Edit to say; If it was because he was lazy and fat then come out and say it so us fans can have an explanation, and move on.

Maybe he doesn't want to sully Donovan's reputation?

I don't know.

This. Jurgen has done this in the classiest way possible.

Nothing good can come from leaving Donovan off the team. Plain and simple.

So I have to believe that it is due to Landon not bringing enough to the team to include him. I do this because I do not want to end up like half of LSU football fans who think that Miles picks players for stupid non football issues and are miserable during the season.

thank you. I almost titled this "When the SB turns into the Rant."

Also why all this bs about "going young"

I do not, nor will I ever, the 'going young' argument for a WORLD CUP. It's the World Cup for God's sake. I will assume that JK didn't do this to 'go young' – that he did it because he feels the other players he is bringing are better.

That's a massive overstatement, and even if it were true, you'd have to be privy to knowledge that you aren't privy to to know it.

In other words, I call bullshite.

My point is that the training camp should matter for guys like Diskerud. It really shouldn't matter much for LD

That's where I'll disagree.

If he looked like the 24th best player there, or the 5th best forward, or whatever, then Jurgen HAS to make that call. It's his job.

If this were someone like Bradley, or Dempsey, or Jozy, who hasn't been flaky over the last two years and who was considered a lock coming in, I'd be a little more offput. But I, and I'll admit it, was slightly pissed at Landon for his sabbatical. Not from a personal perspective – do what you gotta do to be happy. But don't expect that your time away while the rest are busting arse won't have serious consequences.

All that to say, I think we're all on the same page. We'd have taken Landon, but we get that Jurgen has the better view of the situation. We also get that there could be something personal to this.

I'm just trying to generate a little less Chicken Little ranting and a little more "It's the World Cup, let's go fricking win this shite" mentality. Not that it'll make a difference on how our team does, but that's what the World Cup is supposed to feel like, and it didn't feel like that on this board yesterday.

The fact that Landon is not in this tier is absurd to me.

You want to talk about form? Jozy is scoring less than a celibate, and I like Jozy. Jozy has played lazy at times during the season, but he should basically have national team immunity. Landon certainly is in that tier.

Even if he came into camp out of shape and in bad form?

I think I have made it clear that IMO Landon should basically be free of fault. Not a popular opinion, but our big four of Landon, Bradley, Howard, and Dempsey should go regardless.

One of those was not like the others going into camp. That being said, this is the World Cup. Current form and fitness should trump overall career.

It's not popular, because it's dumb. This isn't a Make A Wish charity case, it's the USMNT. Step up or step aside.
