Has he been in the US long enough for you to be a fan?

Did you see that his name started with a J and get a little scared he might have some Mexican in him?

Better start sizing up and producing an X-Small black and green jersey...will be sad to see that guy go, but excited about JG's potential

It's just a whole lot of circle-jerking for a guy that 99% of people have NEVER seen play. That's an interesting "show of hands" question: Who HAS seen him play at least a full half in a match?

I haven't but I assume if I did it would just be more of this:
USMNT starter no doubt

For real, though, 2017 Confed Cup is ours. Shades of 1980 hockey as we take down the USSR.

Arjen Robben and Bastian Schweinsteiger weigh in

quote:

He’s got great potential, so I think you can be happy about the fact he chose to play for the United States,” Robben told SI.com in an interview at Bayern’s training ground on Wednesday. “He’s a great talent. He already trained with [Bayern’s first team] several times, and you can see he has potential. He’s quick, he’s got very good dribbling and can score goals.

quote:

“First, I think he has a good personality,” he said. “That’s for me always important. And second he’s very quick — without the ball and with the ball. He plays a little bit like me. I’m not as quick as him, but at the beginning of my career I was playing on the left side outside, like his position now, and would come in and shoot with the right foot. And he’s done that a lot of times.
“OK, he’s young, but he’s fresh and dynamic,” Schweinsteiger continued. “It’s good for the United States now, absolutely.

Not ideal but better than some alternatives.

We are going to have to look for US nationals born abroad to fill in for this talent gap between Donovan and Dempsey's generation to this next one. Hopefully we can get Zelalem as well.

I don't really follow US Soccer that much unless it's against Mexico or the World Cup and I have a hard time getting exciting about the young prospects often bantered about on this board because they are usually 1/100th as good as they are made out to be here.

But like I said, this one seems to have potential.

His dad needs to hurry up and marry an American broad before Gideon turns 18, or else that's a lost cause.

Lalas is a bitter bitch.

He needs to move to Seattle and start a band and move on with his life.
