The "this is why Americans hate soccer" is 99.9% of the time a troll post. Americans like basketball and there's lists of diving in it so I don't understand that argument personally.

Two years ago I started a thread, not trolling, asking about a rule and was jumped by a good 8-10 posters. Not one person came in and said "hey...ignore them, they are just being assholes"

Nah, that wouldn't work. The retroactive banning might work, but there are no assurances that it would work. Since there is an interpretive aspect to the rules it might not be the end all that people are hoping. It would depend on who was on the committee.

Play can change too much. If you allow play to go on while a ref in a booth is reviewing a dive, you'd have situations where the other team could score before the call came in or have an attacking move halted.
And stopping play to review would disrupt the flow of the match.

If golf games ever ended 1-0 with the one score coming on a flop aided referees decision , then I'd not only listen to his idea to make holes bigger, but would probably support it.
