Is there any chance that Portugal doesn't roll over for Ghana?

They were already fragile as frick and now that they are basically out, they may not even show up on Thursday.

I think this is what scares me the most because it basically means that we HAVE to get a result on Thursday.

Ronaldo will want goals. His ego needs them. That's our saving grace.

Absolutely not. What scares me is them going for it and being left open on the counter.

I honestly don't think he gives a shite. He basically conceded following our match that Portugal has no shot in advancing.

If either Portugal or the US scores first on Friday, we are pretty much in.

I think that can happen.

My money is on Ghana stomping Portugal. They're a much better team.

Not unless it's apparent that the US is ahead late or that they can't get enough goals to overcome the 5 goals late.

If Germany can beat Portugal by 4 , in their mind they still think they are better than us, so they have to assume Germany can win by 3 or 4 vs the USA.

So they will go all out and hope for the best.

I hope Portugal is up 1-0 in the 75th minute.

I just hope Portugal doesn't just give up allowing Ghana to score at will. We need Ronanldo and company to play with a sense of pride.

Yeah, they are and there really is a chance the match gets out of hand with frustrated red for Portugal or something like that.

I wonder how much youth Portugal will play. They do have talented younger guys that haven't seen much time yet.

May help the USA out if a few fresh faces with something to prove are in Portugal's lineup.

honestly, that may be better. those guys will be playing for PT in euro 2016, so they will want to win.

"Maybe we're an average team," he said. "It would be a lie to say that we are a 'top' team. We have many limitations and suffer from injuries such as with Pepe [who was suspended] and [Fabio] Coentrao. This limits us a lot. We have a very limited team and we are not at the best level. This does not enable you to beat top teams.

"There are no miracles. We knew we would have a tough group, with perhaps teams better than us. I never thought we could be world champions, we have to be humble and know our level. I'm not a hypocrite, I never thought we could win the tournament "

That's not the attitude you want to hear from someone whom we need to play well. Will Ronaldo even play on Thursday with his injury and the very small chance of advancing?

German fans on the Big Soccer forum, Germany board, were saying 2nd place would be better.

They think facing a side with Belgium and Argentina is better than facing a side that will have Brazil, Nietherlands, or Italy/ Uruguay ( Uruguay we now know ).And of course France would be over there also.

They are saying that with such a big goal difference than Portugal ( plus 8 ) and Ghana ( plus 5 ) that they hope their coach plays an experimental line up ( I guess they mean a bunch of bench players mixed with a few starters )

I hope Germany want to Finnish second.

Actually the Russians took care of the Finns when the two were allied. Or tried to.
