Before that, hired a MLS coach and got MLS results.

And it’s better than what Poch is currently giving us USL results

Shouldn’t he be held to a higher standard?

Yea I was hoping/expecting more TBH.

However, who was a reasonable option that was better?

Wilfred Nancy was my choice

Honest question, has Poch even started a match with the full "A team"?

The problem with national team soccer is that you're never going to have the A team.

I guess? But realistically what can be done now?

Again, the correct time to have this team and its fans feeling good about the World Cup was last summer. And Gregg blew it all to shite.

I don’t know a coach who would’ve come in and turned our mess around quickly. Poch was a big name but it was plainly obvious when he was hired that he’s not a miracle worker, so it’s going about as well as we should expect.

You expected us to be worse under Poch than we were under Gregg?

I sure as hell didn’t

I honestly expected us to be about the same. But after last year, I don’t believe a team coached by Gregg would’ve won tonight - I don’t think they would’ve even been in the game.

Our team lacked any cohesion and had a lot of holes. It was a bad situation for any coach to take over. It didn’t have to be that way.

Good message for the “A” players that they better get their asses back and earn their spot. Have some heart and take pride in the crest when called up like every other country.

It’s a good message only if he actually believes what he’s say… but he can’t in good conscience Donovan those players. The world saw what’s behind them and it’s not good

It’s also hollow words when the next official match for us is the World Cup

He's coached some of the world’s best. He’s not bluffing, he’s incentivizing. It’s on the A team players to step up, unite, and light a fire under themselves. They have a part to play too.

That Poch quote is incredible. I had a friend that doesn’t watch much ask me if this was the B squad for us. I told him Mckennie, weah, Reyna, pepi, Sargent, balogun, dest, Robinson, Scally, Cardoso, wright, etc are out

Some of those are out for injury but some were just left home. You could probably even add a few guys like Trusty, Wiley, and Busio. His talent appraisal has been off and playing an offense first LWB in Arfsten as a LB ALL TOURNAMENT drove me nuts

Arfsten and Freeman are probably somewhere between 5-8 on the outside back depth chart and the forward were probably somewhere like 4-8

We don’t have to pretend these are The Guys™? when they so clearly aren’t

That’s neat that he’s coached the world’s best. And now he’s had the worst start of any USMNT coach since pre Bora.

As for the incentivizing stuff… he’s full of shite. What do you want to bet that the main guys are called in next camp?

I think a lot of them will be. But we’ll see. I suspect they’ll be given another chance to audition after their abject failure this last spring, and then skipping out this summer. Lot can happen between now and September. But who knows?

Next games are against South Korea and Japan, away, with a start time of 5AM central. So not only do we get a shot at hopefully, a new roster, but we get to see how we perform over seas.

Skipping out this summer? Wasn’t that basically just Pulisic and maybe Musah? Everyone else was hurt or at the CWC (or Poch left at home)
