When you are defending 20 yard too deep and have no midfield who can turn and create openings for the strikers you can't expect a center forward to do much. He did not have many touches because we played flat or negative most of the game.

Nations League... we finished 4th... first time we never won it.
You are right, forgot about that. Went edit my post.

Weah didn't get a red card against Panama in Nations League... that was Copa America under Gregg.

Didn't stop pretty much every other international player from competing over the summer.

This may be shocking to you and many here, but that’s actually the idea when your season is over. Well-deserved rest after 34 Serie A, 9 Champions League, 5 Cup, and 2 Super Cup matches. Excluding preseason, which is of course about to start
38 year old Messi has played 50 matches since January 2024, and Pulisic has played 49. Give me a fricking break.

Lol I linked it in the initial post

quote:Correct. And the old guy is a worn down shell even in a significantly poorer league, and will be watching the majority of his country’s World Cup from the bench. It’s arguable that he’d even be good enough to make it as one of the best 23 players, his inclusion would amount to what he brings in leadership

This really isn’t that difficult

BS. They showed a replay up close him initially making contact, then stop/place the ball to control it, stand up, continue play. It was as clear as day a hand ball
I agree with you. I was talking about their offside call.

I'm not defending Poch, he probably does suck. Still, this isn't on him.
Pulisic wanted to be there and Poch said no, go rest.
Not calling in Sargent is such a head scratcher.

Come on man, I know you’re frustrated from this outcome as I am. Sure you can say Poch is not performing well, but making the case that he couldn’t get it done with our A team, after this summer has shown their hearts are truly not as in it, while at the same time pumping Gregggg is a bit over the top. GGG sucked and created a soft vibes culture. It’s done so let’s move on.

I just love how we have idiots looking at a lineup seeing, McKennie, Pulisic, Musah, Weah and Adams, ignoring that and cherry-picking Tanner Tessman in a loss to Panama and saying "not Poch's fault, Tanner Tessman started".
Meanwhile, Gregg beats Honduras in Honduras with James Sands starting and people say "Gregg doesn't deserve credit, it's all Ricardo Pepi"
This board man

Dawg, this isn't a Gregg vs Poch thing... this is a "Poch has made it worse" thing.
Accept it for what it is, the team is objectively worse under him, no matter who is playing for the USMNT.

The USMNT’s fate in 2026 was sealed when it brought back Gregg two years ago. He was never going to lead the team to any meaningful achievement and the vibe of the players just felt off from that point on.
Our federation committed to a lame duck future when the timing to shape our roster and instill a winning culture was the most precious.
I don’t really blame Poch, or Pulisic, or any player coach for our shortcomings right now. We have a mishmash of young players and a coach that seems to have a hard time communicating with them IMO.
Will be fun to have the WC on home soil next year and that’s about it.

Lol what in the actual frick is this fanbase?

quote:The Club World Cup players are contractually obligated to, to the chagrin of many national team managers who complained from the start that their players are going to be disproportionately spent next summer, particularly after another expanded Champions League. The UEFA Nations League semifinalists actually had something of significance to play for, and that was only 2 matches, not 6 over a month’s span, not including camp for weeks before
Didn't stop pretty much every other international player from competing over the summer.
Someone with a brutal injury history resting up after his most demanding season by far instead of playing in a 3rd tier tournament with no significance in advance of the most significant tournament he’ll ever play in is the no brainer of all no brainers. The lack of braining is shocking to read. It’s beyond basic

A good/lucky group draw and who knows, maybe we can develop some cohesion in the tuneup/group stages
But as of now, yeah, the expectations are basically zero

I’m not talking about a coach that would have won the Gold Cup tonight, I’m talking about a coach that could get us beyond the Round of 16 next year — who do you think could accomplish that right now? Who did you want hired instead of Poch?
We hired a Tottenham coach and are getting Tottenham results.
Before that, hired a MLS coach and got MLS results.
I think US Soccer has been the culprit in our disappointments for most of the last decades. I said at the time that Poch was inheriting an awful situation last year and I think that’s pretty much shown to be true.
Posted on 7/6/25 at 9:01 pm to DByrd2
So we’re just not gonna hold Poch to any standard at all?
Got it
Got it
