Dempsey could start for 90 percent of the teams in top European leagues. Not Manu, City, Barca, Bayern, etc but just about anywhere else. Why leave now?

I saw on twitter that it was Seattle I believe.

Found the tweet:

The club interested in bringing Dempsey back to MLS is Seattle

you guys!!

oh, and the Reds will make top 4 this year… personally i think it's Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, and 'Pool…. think we have a great 2nd half, while Man U muddles with the new manager and uncertainty with Rooney and misses out…..

just a feeling, but i think as long as they stay healthy, they have enough firepower to win the ones they are supposed to and to stay in games they need….

Let's go with the idea that this is just a bs rumor and that he still has CL aspirations (this is all hypotehtical of course). Where outside of the EPL could he go? France, Germany, Italy, etc.

Nowhere lol. I can't see any of the top 4 offering him any kind of deal that would result in him playing significant minutes.

To be honest, Clint can and has worked his way into every line-up he's faced, (I seriously believe he could join Man Utd in his late 20s and be in the first team in 2 years) sadly time is against him now.

I think there is a 0% chance he moves to MLS this season.

Just got off work and talked to a good friend up there who is a season ticket holder.

FWIW, it's a go.

He'll be in Seattle by next week.

Does your friend also happen to be in the Seattle front office or have any special connections? Cause if not I wouldn't go on the word of a season ticket holder.

I feel like I'm getting trolled right now. Dempsey was a top midfielder in the league 2 years ago with aspirations to play on a CL contending team and now he's just saying frick it I'll play in the MLS. Not that he MLS is some pub league or anything.

ETA: So I looked into the rumor on the interwebs and apparently this rumor was spurred because he was at an airport in San Fran and was quickly refuted once he went to a gate other than that of Seattle. So yeah we're all just getting trolled by Keith Costigan.

Pairing him with eddie and yedlin would be dope, but I don't see this being a worthwhile move right now

GAM just tweeted a picture of him and Deuce high fiving after a goal for the National Team, with a caption saying that we could be seeing that a lot soon...

I would be absolutely shocked by this, primarily because of Dempsey's mindset.

So if the rumors were true, what would Seattle have to give up (to Portland) to claim the rights for him?

I'm 32 I definitely agree
