Saw on twitter, take FWIW:

"Fourth Official ?@FourthOfficial_ 1h
Clint Dempsey is in talks in America with an unnamed MLS club"

Also saw earlier that Sounders have restructured Joseph's contract, leaving them with an open DP spot. Possible landing spot? Anybody else hear anything about this?

Would this be bad for Clint's future progression as a player? Or is he pretty much maxed out growth-wise at this point? Even as a Spurs fan, I would rather him go somewhere else to see him receive more regular PT leading up to the WC, but not sure MLS would be the best move for him

Not buying it.

This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. For the past 2 years everything we have heard out of Clint & JK's mouth is that his goal is to play in the champions league.

If he leaves Europe now, he won't be going back.

He's 30

Would be extremely surprised to see him move back, but it'd be cool to see him play in MLS while he still has a lot left

I don't really think its that surprising or far-fetched. He's been in England for what 6 years now? He's in his 30s. Maybe he thinks its time to come back home.

I can't see him giving up his "champions league dream" after just one year at Spurs.

Yea, I agree. Like I said, take it FWIW. So many rumors flyin around this time of year anyway its hard to read too much into it. Would be interesting to see though, although personally I'd rather see him stay somewhere in the PL, even if it means moving to a smaller club.

Well then where do you see him moving inside of England to play CL?

Nowhere lol. I can't see any of the top 4 offering him any kind of deal that would result in him playing significant minutes.

That's what I'm saying. Plus it's a WC season. Maybe he just wants to come back home and finish out his career with some friends.

There is none, but I don't see him giving up though.

If he does indeed comeback to the MLS, it will probably be with Dallas or Houston.

Isn't he going to be 31? I don't know a ton about soccer progression but I don't think anyone is really progressing in any sport by that time.

this makes me feel old…. seeing everything being written about how "old" he is and i'm the same age…

i feel better and more youthful now than i did when i was in my twenties, but considering my life in my twenties it's not hard to figure out why...
