Precisely. The US U-17 team would beat the women's national team like a drum, but pretty much any high school boys team would lose, a lot of them pretty badly.
I really think people are overrating the technical skill of the women. I'm not saying they're bad, but I feel like people are talking about them as if they all started training at Barcelona's youth academy at age 10. It's not like all the players are just slower versions of Dennis Bergkamp.

Depends on the distance. The longer, the better for the world class female.
I used "runner" rather than sprinter for that reason, but I could have been more clear.
I looked up the 5K times run by the women in the Olympics vs. Louisiana 3 mile cross country runners in 2010. The top boys are pretty damn fast but they were over a minute behind the women, which in 5K is a lot. And 5K is 3.1 miles, so the women were covering slightly more ground. Of course, the "rest of the pack" in the boys XC were significantly further behind than that.
In ultramarathons sometimes a woman wins overall. The current record for the longest uninterrupted run (it's actually closer to a walk, but I digress) is currently held by a man but a woman held it before that. She did just over 300 miles without stopping.
Which of course just proves that bitches be crazy.

Nope. I'm just not overrating the technical skill of a nonelite boys team either.

People seem to be trying to cancel out the gap in athleticism by asserting the women have outstanding technical skill. I don't really think that's the case.

I know you were right, I guess I was just further clarifying it. Look up Paula Radcliffe, a British marathoner, to see how the gap shrinks with the longer distances.

Dean Karnazes, I presume.

-btw the U18 Louisiana Fire just lost to the defending National champs from Georgia in regionals 2-1 in the final minutes.

You don't compare cross country times to times on a track. Ever. Cardinal sin in the running world. Don't even compare cross country times to other cross country times. You compare track times to other track times and nothing else.
Also, cross country in Louisiana (most of the south, really) is a joke compared to other states. I believe Louisiana has only qualified 1 boy to Footlocker Nationals (top 40 high school XC runners in the nation) ever.
That said, you probably have a point. LA just isn't a good example at all.

everyone knows that soccer in lousiana is pretty shitty. people on here have had trouble admitting that though every time ive said it. i think they feel like it somehow demeans them if they played in lousiana, which is just retarded.
No one is denying that Georgia is better or whatever or really even cares, so I don't know why you harp on that. The main school mentioned in this thread has been Jesuit because most of these guys are familiar with it and it's been ranked #1 nationally a couple times. plus I don't think anyone in this thread even went there so it's not like there's any real bias.

I absolutely loathe Jesuit to be honest. I still believe that they have had some teams in the past that would at least compete in a women's world cup, if not win the whole thing. The blue gheys rank near commies in my book.

I hate Jesuit almost as much as I hate Mexico and I still say they're pretty good.
frick them though.

No arguments here. one of my friends from NOLA that's a BM grad told me that his dad works with people that still wear their Jesuit class rings. in normal, everyday business environments. That is just sad.

Considering Hendo and I played for the same High School team, I would have to agree. I would say my state championship D-1 team or our premier team could at least break out of group play, if not further
