If you can qualify just host them....

The Canada men have played in one World Cup, back in 1986, and the nation’s got a plan to guarantee its participation in at least one of their next three chances.

The United States’ northern neighbors unveiled their strategic soccer plan for the years 2014-18, and it involves going hard at hosting the 2026 World Cup. This has been rumored for a few months, but today’s report finds it quite official.

The plan, called “Leading A Soccer Nation,” involves implementing such seemingly basic elements such as developing a national database for youth players and “mandating technical development.”

“We’re the only G-8 nation to not host the World Cup,” said CSA president Victor Montagliani. “We’ve hosted almost every other event … I think it’s time for Canada to step up to the plate.”

North American mates Mexico are also planning to bid for the tournament and have discussed co-hosting with the United States. Colombia also is planning a bid and USSF president Sunil Gulati said the States would consider bidding if the process was more open and fair. Wales is also interested.

Canada hired 61-year-old Spanish manager Benito Florio to take over their men’s senior team in August. He’ll look to find honors for the squad, which has just two CONCACAF championships to show for itself, and none since 2000. They haven’t escaped group play of the Gold Cup in their last two tries and were ousted before the Hexagonal in 2014 World Cup qualifying, finishing one point behind advancing Honduras and Panama in Group C.

And Wales? They don't have enough stadiums and the only one big enough for a World Cup is Millennium Stadium. They would likely have to co-host with England to have a shot.

It should be in the USA in 2026.

They seem to not want to give it to the US. Canada is the next best thing. We get the games in real time zones, US games would have home field advantage anyway. It's one of like ten stable countries in the world

Hell yeah it should. The best option for Canada would be to co-host anyway with the US. I know there is talk about Mexico putting in a bid and co-hosting with the US. If that happens all of our games better be in the fricking US.

Probably the only way they'd ever qualify for a WC

Given that Russia(I kind of hope it goes as badly as I think it will) and Qatar just got WCs, Canada has a much better chance than the US.

Location has put me off going to the next two(can't sort the money out for Brazil) but I would be very up for going to Canada for a WC.

The US shouldn't co-host with anyone. Don't need to, we have the stadium infrastructure to host it ourselves without question.

USA should host it and it should be in the cities of the 2022 bid:
quote:

The cities were Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, Seattle, Tampa, and Washington, D.C.

That city list is good IMO but I would replace Indy with Chicago.

Why have DC and Baltimore on that list, it's pretty much the same area.

Exactly. No go on Phoenix as well. Qatar hot. Oh, it is a dry heat. Yeah 112 is 112. Dallas and Houston are really hot as well.

With the Texas cities it seems like July and August is when it's really fricking hot. Maybe play in Charlotte instead of Baltimore?

We actually have a retractable roof, AC, and the turf rolls outside to get natural sun. No man made clouds and shite.

I heard somewhere that China is the favorite to get 2026. I would be happy with Canada getting it.

will probably happen.

ETA Russia´s just before. We´ll see what the criteria is, but normally, it´s extreme geographical dispersion from one event to the next. Russia and China are neighbours, but it wouldn´t surprise me to see China take it.
